Re: UAL Spring 2016 Registration OPEN
Very smart move UAL, though you might want to fix the field size. 7v7 on an 80x50 field makes precisely zero sense especially when the USSF mandates a max field size of 47x30 for u10 which most will institute next fall.
Just like it doesn't make sense for a newly formed 07 team to play 9v9 this spring when they'll be playing 7v7 next fall, it doesn't make sense to have them go backwards on field size either.

Why will 07 play 7v7 in the Fall? They will be U10 in Fall

Guessing you haven't read the new small sided initiative from the USSF that's being implemented side by side with the change to Age Pure.
u8 and under is 4v4 going forward, u9 and u10 are 7v7, u11 and u12 are 9v9, and we won't go full sided until u13.

Re: UAL Spring 2016 Registration OPEN
UAL will not change the playing format to the new federation guidelines until fall 2016. The teams are not asking for smaller field size, just assistance with a roster of fewer players.

Re: UAL Spring 2016 Registration OPEN
From the FAQ's for the small-sided initiative...
Who is required to follow these initiatives?
All of U.S. Soccer’s membership is required to put these initiatives into place no later than August of 2017.
If 07's are playing 9v9 as u9's in Fall 2015 and will play 9v9 as u11's in Fall 2017, why would 07's play 7v7 in Fall 2016 or this Spring?

Re: UAL Spring 2016 Registration OPEN
Argument can be made both ways. Why implement age pure (which is happening fall '16) and not the small sided initiative? Both require a change from the status quo. Neither is required until fall '17. Why one and not the other?
Seems if the powers that be feel that u9's and u10's will be better developmentally served playing 7v7, that's what should be done.

Re: UAL Spring 2016 Registration OPEN
UAL isn't implementing AP teams - the teams are forming that way and wanted AP divisions. Those teams who are breaking up are short on players asking if UAL will have a 7v7 league to assist with the low roster count....................the new playing format will begin fall 2016 as not all of UAL locations could get ready by this spring season - too much involved, it's more than just re-painting a field.

Absolutely understand. You guys are being proactive and accomodating teams that are getting a jump on the changes, which is great and should be commended.
