Liverpool Barnes 05 Coach
I must say that was very classy by this coach punting a soccer ball across the field after a loss to FC Premier....For the Parent's, I am sorry you have to put up with this kind of actions if this is your actual coach, and leader.

I think he kicked a water bottle when he played FCD Pino. He's fired up and passionate!!!!

You should really re-word that last post.

Yes! Both the manager and the manager's wife shared the same passion of the game as the current coach.

Re: Liverpool Barnes 05 Coach
The Liverpool-Barnes coach is passionate - The punt was a little unnecessary; but it was more funny than malicious. I'd rather a coach who cares and is overly-passionate about his team. And he was frustrated...
As the refereeing was a joke and it was obvious why: Kids should not be center refs. It's a problem when the center ref is too young to vote.
As his team lost to a team that he shouldn't have.
As his team lost to a team that only played kick ball and couldn't connect a pass. It's sorry that a Classic team coach is not teaching his players to control and pass the ball.

This brings up an interesting topic. Are tournaments used for development? Many of these teams are brand new and still trying to figure things out. Are tournaments about winning or should new teams use them for development?

Re: Liverpool Barnes 05 Coach
Come on man you know better! Nothing is done for development and everything is done for winning. We have kids on our bench the coach wont give more than 10 minutes per half even when losing 6+ goals to 0.
Development is a joke. Coaches are in it for the money, end of story. I would love to be proven wrong but until I see or someone tells me, I'm sticking to theory. Paid FT coaches are here to support their families. The typical FT coach can't get a job because of low skillset and all they know is soccer. Losing = players leaving, which equates to losing money.

Half of the fault is ours as parents. We are the ones that are willing to fork over 3k plus for select and 1k plus for academy to put our kids in these clubs. So no use blaming coaches, they will sell what markets will bear. American capitalism 101

Did the kids earn those minutes? Do they deserve those minutes? Did Daddy put their kid on a D1 team who shouldn't be there?

Re: Liverpool Barnes 05 Coach
Plenty of kids on teams that don't belong across all levels, regardless of divisions. The issue here is development over winning which is the question you raised.
Lets not diminish coaches singing kids just to meet budgets.

Re: Liverpool Barnes 05 Coach
Dang, I missed the punt.
I hope he had good form: head down, leg fully extended and complete follow through.
Surprised he didn't roll the ball out though. My son has a good punt but Coach preferred controlled distribution.

I personally don't think you enter a tournament for development. You enter to win!!!

Most of the college scouts for respectable programs don't show up for U12 tourneys until Sunday. You better make it to bracket play if you want that scholarship!

I would say you are with the wrong coach then. I know a few coaches that pass on kids who dont fit what they are looking for and dont fill up their entire roster just to hit a budget. Of course as also pointed out there are parents who will pay $3K just to have their kids on a winning team. Those arent on the coaches, but on the parents for doing that.

Tournaments are for winning what about when you get to the point where you can't qualify for finals? Still continue to try and win? Seems foolish and egotistical.

Re: Liverpool Barnes 05 Coach
Yeah there are no coaches out there that are egotistical. LOL There are coaches that are so prideful they can't see where they've messed up. They burn every bridge they can with every parent on the team. Then they can't even form a team so they settle for whatever they can get.

Re: Liverpool Barnes 05 Coach
Seen it both ways where coaches won't take kids because parents are black listed. I personally know several Texans coaches who won't allow kids anywhere near them because of the baggage their parents bring. Guess those parents eventually have to settle somewhere until those bridges are burned like you said.
