DA for 06s starting this summer
06 parents, as posted by Sprint in the USSF section it looks like there will be DA for 06s starting this summer.
http://www.ussoccerda.com/20170110-news-us-soccer-development-academy-introduces-u15-single-age-group-for-2017-18-season
It looks like DA is adding another age group for next year. So the DA next year will be:
U12-2006's
U13-2005's
U14-2004's
U15--2003s
U16/U17--2001s and 2002's
U18/U19--2000 and 1999.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the 2002 age group. Do the ones that don't make U16/U17 DA go back to classic or will there be another option for them? Maybe the ECNL league that is coming online for the boys.

Re: DA for 06s starting this summer
The greatest advantage of the new DA format is that gifted youth players are no longer held back by archaic rules and regulations regarding playing up.
Classic Legue has officially ended its reign as the top tier of NTX soccer. Lack of vision and reluctance to change were their undoing. Goodbye and good luck.

Re: DA for 06s starting this summer
From what I understand, in DA, the 06's (U12) will play 9v9....
Does anyone know when 11v11 will be introduced next year, maybe the with 05's (U13)?

The 05s will play 11v11 and be U13 next year in the DA. You are correct that the 06s will be playing 9v9

Thanks for clarification, should be fun for the older 05's to see 11v11 once again and the younger 05's to officially start playing that format.

Jeez. The 02s are going to be far and away the most hosed age group ever in this system, assuming they dispense with any nonDA U16-only option next year.

Re: DA for 06s starting this summer
So, how does this work? To take FC Dallas - Gall as an example (my son does not play on Gall), they are at the top of Classic D1. Does that team go to DA next year and FC Dallas puts another team in their "spot" in Classic D1?

Re: DA for 06s starting this summer
Number10 - generally speaking, yes. If a top team in D1 loses most (or all) of their players to DA, the club will use the bye and field a team.
Each of the 3 DA programs in DFW will have 2 teams worth of 06's playing U12. That is roughly 75 boys between the three programs. With D1 shifting to 10 teams next year, more than half the players that otherwise would have played D1 Classic will be gone.
In some cases, you may see virtually the entire team go DA. In others, it will be a few players that go while the rest stay in Classic.
The coaches and players who remain in Classic will use the club's bye.
