Supercopa Moved up North

Apparently this is old news but just noticed the formerly Dallas Supercopa has moved up north to Illinois. Wonder why the change of venue for this tournament that in my view was the best under 12 tournament in the country.

This tournament put together the best teams in the country when it started years ago and gave the local soccer folks that were able to play in it a lot of good memories. Sad to see it go away from Dallas.

Good luck to any NTX teams making the trek to Illinois in June.

Too many weather-related issues over the last few years (moved location in 15, many indoor games in 16) looks to be the cause for this. My son is excited about more travel.

Have you ever tried to rent fields from MoneyGram?  

Forget the Dallas weather, money talks. Other cities in this country recognize that the positive economic impact of a tournament (hotels, restaurants, etc) with 95% travelling teams is better than gouging a tournament organizer with obnoxiously high field rental fees. Cities bid for events like SuperCopa all of the time. U90C may even have gotten free fields as part of their deal.

Will Dallas come crawling back to U90C and cut the field rental rates? Maybe

Was this a good way for U90C to save money? Absolutely

Will the competition level suffer? Not at all
