Re: 98 PPL results
We saw Pachuca play this afternoon against Texas Xtreme. the score was 2-2. The ref made a bad call on Xtreme in the box and gave Pachuca a PK. It ended with Pachuca winning 3-2.

Actually, the score was 2-1 Extreme at the time of the horrible call...perhaps the worst call I have ever seen in all of the years I have been attending youth soccer games. Despite the referee having an excellent vantage point, the linesman decided to call the (phantom) foul that led to the PK. From there, the momentum completely shifted, and Pachuca was able to score the winning goal. How unfortunate that the completely incompetent refs decided the outcome of what was a great game played by two very good teams.

Though I hate to see any win or loss come from the result of a bad call (happens to us all), players should never leave the game in a refs hands. Tx Extreme has a good little bunch and will rebound from it!
I know some of the players are from the Keller/Hurst area, not sure where the team is actually based out of!

We practice at the Colleyville fields and NYTEX. Kevin Leonard (head coach of the Texas Outlaws) is building a terrific club...

Re: 98 PPL results
You're right soccernewbie. I had forgotten that. I remember we were a little suprised when watching the game in the beginning, because we expected to see Pachuca dominate anyone they played and it was actually Xtreme that was dominating. They definitely had control of that game. And it was a really really bad call.
While I agree that you have to be able to overcome a bad call and still fight to win, it's harder when you see it happen to kids. And they will have to learn to do that, but I felt so bad for that goalie. He shouldn't have been put in the situation to have to defend that PK in the first place.
Both teams are good teams from what I've seen and they'll both do well.
FC Hawks 1 Mitlan 0
Hawks to D1

Good thought, and thanks, but we are relegated to Division 2....not what we had worked for....

So... anyone know enough about all the teams to have a guess as to how D1 will rank up this season?

I guess the real question is what about the teams that had byes. Did they stay as strong as last year? Have they been doing tournaments that would give anyone an idea of what they'll look like next month?
And I'm not sure how indicative this weekend was of a team's strength. Some of the brackets were much harder than others. Several of the "new" teams that were seeded lower were way better than some of the higher seeded teams.

Re: 98 PPL results
Does anyone know anything about the two E.Texas Teams that are in 1st place in the PPL DivII bracket? Where did they come from...? Are they that talented...? I've heard of the Titans organization, but never heard of the East Texas United...

Re: 98 PPL results
I haven't seen them play, but based on how they did in the qualifying tournament, they seem to be that good. Pachuca only beat them by 2, I think.

Re: 98 PPL results
So... Anyone have any thoughts on 98b PPL. I'm suprised at some of he teams that have already lost games. Wouldn't have expected it - Barcelona, FC United. Did they lose key players over the summer, a fluke? What do you think.
