National Championship Tournament
Good luck to Solar Red Stricker as they compete in the National Championship Tournament! The soccer Gods have not been kind with the bracket:
Game 1, Toyota 9:00AM vs Midwest United (#1 Michigan, 3x State Cup winners, National Premiere Red division champs, Region 2 runners-up) Their forward set a National League scoring record with 15 goals!
Game 2, Toyota 7:00AM vs BRYC Elite Academy (#2 Virginia, State Cup finalist, Region 1 champs) To win the Region 1 title they defeated #8 National rank Delaware Rush in the championship after Delaware Rush defeated #2 National rank Penn Fusion.
Game 3, Toyota 9:00AM vs Nebraska FC (#1 Nebraska, 2x State Cup winner & Region 2 champs). They beat Midwest United 2-0 to win the Region 2 championship.
So this is a killer bracket. Hopefully they can at least hold their own & represent North Texas soccer well. You just never know. Good luck boys, play your hearts out.

Re: National Championship Tournament
The boys were on fire today...offense & defense, a complete team win! Our offense put so much pressure on the Midwest defense, probably more than they've seen all year. Hat trick by 1 forward & 2 goals including an unbelievable bicycle kick by the other...too many scoring threats to focus on 1 guy. The unsung heroes in the midfield worked their tails off, not allowing Midwest space to get their prolific offense started. Midwest's scoring machine was frustrated for most of the game by Solar's backline & when he did break through he had to contend with the keeper...no bueno. Congrats boys. Keep working hard! Game 2 will be a battle. BRYC FC coming off a 2-0 win themselves will be ready to battle. Hydrate & rest...7AM game tomorrow ⚽️

Re: National Championship Tournament
Looks like they made it look easy in the killer bracket. But honestly, what do they know about soccer in Michigan and Nebraska? LOL. Virginia, on the other hand, is another story. Region 1 is always tough.

FCD Premier 00 also made it to semifinals as the #2 seed in Bracket B. They won 10-2 today to advance on goal differential.
They finished 2nd in bracket to Baltimore Celtic.

Re: National Championship Tournament
Went out to watch the match w/my younger bb and really enjoyed it. The winning goal was a nice shot from the right hand side of the box, struck low to the opposite corner.
Tactically, the team from AZ did a good job of getting into the attacking third, then holding the ball to build numbers. What they lacked was a quality finisher. They had a couple of big players who relied on size and speed, but they couldn't finish under pressure or outrun Stricker's defense.
The best player on the field was Stricker's left back. He was also the smallest player on the field, but has the heart of a lion. He is quick, fast and smart. Really entertaining to watch. Second on the list was Stricker's Keeper, who had some brilliant saves, including a point black double save in the games waning moments.
Congrats Solar Red 02, 2017 National Champions!!

Congrats to Solar. Youth soccer will come and go, but that'll be a memory they will never forget.
On a personal level, last year all BB could say was that his team tied the National Champs (CASL).

Congratulations to Chris and the team. A large undertaking and a very long season with lots of games to get to the pinnacle. Watched Saturday and Sunday and the defense was the MVP for me, including the goalie. The kid that scored in the final was I thought the best player of the weekend and I think he is an 03. Great Stuff.

Re: National Championship Tournament
Thanks everyone who came out to support our boys. There were so many new faces in the crowd. It was great to see so many of our NTX soccer family out there. Your cheers were awesome when our center back kicked the Tuzos 1st goal attempt up into the stratosphere! Your jeers when the refs missed a call were great too.
The Tuzos were very good as their record & the score indicated. They beat some of the best teams in the nation to get here & I can definitely see how they did it. Their defense was outstanding! Hats off to them. #3 was their big scorer & he almost did it for them. He was rewarded for his work all week by being selected to the National Tournament Best XI team which is selected by the coaches. He along with Solar Strickers keeper & golden glove winner with 1 goal against in the tournament, center back #22, midfielder #8 & left forward, golden boot winner #7 were all selected to the Beat XI team. In my biased opinion missing from this list is the left back #17 along with the right back that scored the winning goal #16. All week #16 & #17 battled some of the best forwards in the country & held them scoreless. The 1 goal given up was a "perfect" shot by a midfielder (I think) from 20yrds out. Tournament 2nd leading scorer #13 from Stricker's team was also left off the list. Anyway just so many good players on all the teams & not enough spots. It was a wonderful experience for us as parents & fans. I know all the teams worked hard & sacrificed to get here but there can be only 1 winner & this year it's Solar Red 02B Stricker. Congrats boys!! Enjoy it then back to work because next season starts Aug 12th ⚽️
