Ibercup 09

So is there anyone who knows what teams are in iber cup that’s coming up sometime
Next month have heard a lot of people talk about this tournament???

My guess would be the Big 3 here being FCD, Solar, Texans plus maybe some of the smaller club Top 10 teams Alligence, Santos, Tigres, Ntx United. International- I've heard couple teams from Mex, Guatemala, and Canada.

Brackets are posted...From a local perspective 1 bracket seems a lot stronger than the rest.

Which Texans? The best players from DTS are on either the Tigres or FCD. I’m not sure of other movement in the age bracket. I know one of the better players from Solar is now on FCD as well.

Wow based on that it looks like fcd may be very well equipped , and dts had a very good over all team a few players doesn’t make a difference I will also say allegiance is another team that may surprise a lot to f people

From a local perspective Group B looks like the Group of Death.. In tournaments like this most teams will be pretty even, especially when it gets into the playoff. From that point I would say it's all about a lucky bounce

From here im not really sure how its seeded its seems like there might be a typo.

IberCup generally pulls the top 2 finishers from each group into the A playoff and the next 2 finishers into the B playoff.
1A is the first place finisher from group A
A1 is the winner of the first game in the A playoff

If you take a look at it, the first one reads
1A vs 4B all other age groups read 1A vs 2B. Which would mean 1st place Bracket A vs 2nd place Bracket B. But 1A vs 4B isnt making sense.

Sorry, I hadn’t actually looked at it, I was going off of previous years. You are correct, the 09 A playoff is not correct. It should be...
1A vs 2B
1C vs 2D
1B vs 2C
1D vs 2A

At least that’s how they usually do it in a 4 bracket age group.

Not sure if this tournament is somehow seeded - but seems incredibly imbalanced in one bracket in particular ... will be really tough to advance even in top 2 with that grouping

Group B is the Group of death.

Iber cup having all the younger groups play 10 min halves.. What a joke and a waste!

It’s not just the younger ages...all ages have gone to 10 min halves for the group games and then to 20 min halves for the playoffs.

This isn't a small-sided tournament. Even 3v3 games are longer. Delay for an extra day. Teams should still be in town. Don't short-change these kids.

I don’t think there are any guarantees that the games can even be played starting on Friday.
It’s not feasible to have kids play 7 full length games in 3 days, much less 2 days if the fields aren’t playable Friday.
Don’t get me wrong, it definitely sucks! I just don’t think there’s any way around it. Unless you regroup down to 3 team groups and get group play over with in one day where every team plays 2 full length games. But then the teams that don’t advance (two thirds of the teams) only play 2 games. Even then, they might not have access to enough fields to make that work.
Remember, there are 3 Major tournaments in town right now. Every quality field is in use. Pretty much every available turf field is being used late into the night, but most (almost all) of them aren’t striped for 9v9 size, much less 7v7.
Bad situation with no great solution. At least this way, they still get to play all of their games (kind of).

All of this is better than flying teams in from around the world and then cancelling the whole thing!
All of these teams are flying out on Sunday and you can’t just change your tickets to Monday for thousands of people.

Makes it an interesting tournament dynamic. Maybe scheduling three major tournaments in the same week is not the greatest decision. Oversight or someone thinks it's cool to do so? Either way, this tournament gets a lot of hype but not sure it's worth it. We can play all but one of these teams any given weekend for a hell of a lot less money.

Given the continued lack of updating from the Iber team, I’m not optimistic that games will be played tomorrow. I guess we can just all put all our jobs and lives on hold, while Iber keeps everyone in the dark. Maybe they will update us again at 8 pm like last night. I’m not sure why it’s so difficult for them to post updates and status on their website or FB page like all other tourneys manage to do. Really disappointed with their lack of communication and apparent lack of planning.

All the managers got the new game schedules this morning.
