Congratulations TFC Blue. What was very obvious to me in this tournament is that the top plano teams easily matched up with middle of the pack Classic League DII teams. It seems with the quality problems the Classic League have been having with DIII teams especially at the older age levels that the classic league would open up the challenge games to many more teams from Plano and Arlington league. This would improve the quality of the classic league teams across the board by increasing the flow of quality teams into the league to displace those that are steadily declining.

This has been debated for years on forums and the opinion of the classic league has been let kids leave their coach and teams and move to the clubs with bye's. Well after several years I do not believe this approach has worked well. Let's open up more slots in DIII to challenge at end of year maybe 6 spots and take the top 4 teams from Plano and Arlington to compete against the bottom 6 DIII teams in the challenge games.

Great idea ! as there are teams that have stuck togeather and really play cohesive as a team. many talented pp ar teams.

You need to disclose that when they lost to asg they were playing their kids . when they beat fcd central and asg they brought in 4 guest players against central the guest scored all 3. They are still a very nice team.

Nope, totally not the case. When we lost to ASG, we were missing 3 of our starters who got lost trying to find the fields in Lewisville and didn't show up until halftime. We did borrow 2 from TFC 97B, who played the entire tournament with us...they didn't just pick and choose which games they wanted to play in...although only one of them was able to make the championship game today due to a school conflict. We only have 14 on our roster and had one out with a broken hand and one out of town, leaving us 1 sub so we knew we needed help. The guest players didn't score any goals at all...the one that scored all 3 in our game against you...he's on our roster and has been since July 1 Smile Did you happen to notice our record in PPL...60 goals for and only 6 against. Certainly can't do that with guest players...

TFC White played FC Dallas Central and ASG very close in their games with no guest players and we did not do as well as TFC Blue in tournament. The TFC White team is currently 4th in plano league although 2nd through 4th is fairly close in the standings. The point is these teams are talented but only two teams from plano and arlington will get invite to challenge games to play bottom two DIII teams. Seems like a waste of good team talent for classic league to improve quality of teams in league.

I also notice the teams that have moved up from Plano/Arlington have done well in Classic League in general. I think Irving Elite moved up several years ago and they are winning DII in 97 bracket with chance to get promoted to DI. They cruised right through all the existing DII and DIII teams last several years to move up in league.

Absolutely not! With the advent of Academy the classic league needs to have less teams in the older ages not MORE! Why do you think that there are better teams in PPL/AR? If they were better they would already be there! I really have never understood the parent that likes to say, "we should be in Classic." or "See, we beat a classic level team in one tournament game so we should be there." You are either there or not.

Stop the debate by U16 only having D1 & D2.

Congrats TFC. Smile

Agree concerning fewer divisions at U16 or allowing more challengers and relegating more teams, even from D2. The 95's, currently at U16, have been a mess for years with 3-4 teams every year needing to drop from D2 and a similar number from D3, but the "drain" only passes 2. The situation may have been caused by the ability of clubs to keep byes of blown-up teams and worsened with Academy eligibility.

Congrats TFC Blue!

Agree...no byes for blown up teams. If the team doesn't make, then the next highest team from D2, D3 and the 6 in the challenge tourney should be promoted to fill the appropriate spot.
