This will be a make it or break it year for my bb's team... Hopefully we can compete well with some of the big dogs on this list... None the less It should be a great tournament.
I wonder what kind of bracket format will be used?

Rev has a good group of kids but this will be a tough tourney for them. This will really get them prepared for APL.trmntr1 wrote:This will be a make it or break it year for my bb's team... Probaly 3 groups of 4. 3 group winners and 1 wildcard.

It looks like a really good pool that will benefit all involved.
Without guessing brackets, I guess Solar, Solar White, Irving Elite, and TFC are in the semis.

actually I just looked at the tournament website and saw that solar 97 is no longer on the list and has been replaced with FWFC.

You're joking, right? TFC Boys finished 3rd in Classic D2 last year and you don't think they are the team to beat over two teams that couldn't even win PPL? Idiot.

Re: Texas Summer Classic 97B Accepted Teams List
I think trmntr1 meant FWFC instead of FWU. Besides, SW isn't a plano team. they actually won 3rd Division and are one of the favorites to do well in 2nd (imo), but yeah you're right TFC is also one of the teams to beat.homer999 wrote:You're joking, right? Really Homer?... I don't mention your bb's team in the team to beat statement and ur panties get all wodded up... Geez! seems like somebody's got a case of the vicarious eyes syndrome....Or your just one of those know it alls that just can't be wrong... And no I was not reffering to Plano teams... Although I did get my FW teams crossed... No need for you to throw out insults.... It is people like you that take the fun out of the experience for everyone....

Re: Texas Summer Classic 97B Accepted Teams List
Why don't we just say they are all teams to beat, that way nobody's dinner is ruined tonight....... That should put everyones anxiety to rest.....
So to retract my earlier statement with a more politically correct one... Looks like it is going to be an awesome tournament! so many good teams here.... 6 championships games......OMG!

Re: Texas Summer Classic 97B Accepted Teams List
TFC seems to be a head above the rest. SW, FWFC and Irving Elite will give challenge and also see a stepup in comp. Man SC and Strikers are solid D2 teams. This is a very even tourney and ASG and Rev could also pull and upset. When it is all played out I think TFC will come out on top.
Also interesting to see how Solar 97 and FCD 97 do playing up.

Would like to see FCD 97 vs FCD 96, these two teams used to practice together often when Diego Castro was coaching them, the boys know each other, would be a good game, I dont believe they have ever pkayed against each other, not even scrimmaged.

Re: Texas Summer Classic 97B Accepted Teams List
Saw Solar Gold in PPL website, mistook them for Solar White. Guess I'm an idiot too. My kid isn't with TFC, but I still think they have the lock to win.
At least this site has soccer talk and not 7 pages of racist rants under the title of looking for the German's kid.

Re: Texas Summer Classic 97B Accepted Teams List
Unfortunately yes.... and this was after his parents had asked us and a few more parents to stay... Game plan was to keep the group together and make a bid for d-3 next spring... So much for that... I can't say I blame them with the offer SR made to them....
No grudges though... we are still friends with parents... very tough lesson learned...
Ironically a forward from SR made the move to our team... We basically traded some defense for some offense... I'm thinking with the 2 years experience in D-1, he might be just what we need to get some scoring going...
I like our chances this year in APL... Third time is the charm.....

Re: Texas Summer Classic 97B Accepted Teams List
My son plays for Revolution, going on his 3rd year with the team... Amarillo Lightning? didn't you guys come down and play in a very small 6v6 tournament late in the spring... We were there. You guys had very good boys... skilled and agressive... very leathal combination... You guys should do very well.... how is that going to work out for yall as far as the commute is concerned... Is your boy the one that used to play for FC Dallas?
Nothing like already having a rival when yall get here.. I think we stole that touney from yall in the PK's..... Looks like APL just got a little tougher... Good Luck this year...

Re: Texas Summer Classic 97B Accepted Teams List
No, that wasn't us in the Spring. That was probably the other Amarillo club team. They did have a kid that played for FC Dallas. I believe that kid is going to play with Manchester SC this year. My boy is a little guy, he is not as tall as the FC Dallas kid.
We did play ya'll in the 2008 Xara Fall Classic last year. I think we also played ya'll our first year in club when we were all U11's in Mansfield. If I remember correctly, both games were pretty good.
Are ya'll playing the Arlington Labor Day tournament. We are going to that tournament and we are hoping some of the teams that play in the Arlington league will be there so that we can get an idea of what we are getting ourselves into.

I think Ama. Light. can be the Irv. Elite of last year. They will be one of the better teams in the APL.
BTW JJC your directions were great much better than the yahoo/google directions.
