It's been a bit quiet on here. What's all the 02's up to?

just finished up futsal @ sportsplex this past weekend. Did you guys end up playing futsal or indoor?

Hey Pass2space. We are finishing up indoor in Arlington. How did you like futsal? I prefer futsal over indoor.

Definitely a fan and prefer it over indoor also. DD played it before BB and her team splits winter practices between futsal and field through the winter. For my 02B, it was the first time to play. Initially, folks were not sold on the idea of playing futsal v indoor but I think it was more a case of the known and unknown. After the first game, everyone loved it and were sold on the benefits. However, I think someone forgot to brief the girl teams on the differences between indoor and futsal as it relates to skill over contact & aggression. Holy Smoke. pitbulls. Still didn't pay off for them though.

Pass, which teams were yours? We played at the sportsplex, too, but I think there's quite a lack of competition, there.

You aren't kidding about the girl's teams. I think it's because they bring their 3v3 game face to the futsal game. I have to share this. My dd was beating a "better" girl with her skills and the parent yelled to her dd to get more aggressive.

AYSES, we had a couple of teams in the 02 group. What about you? I agree, the level of competition was inconsistent but honestly it still served the purpose for skill development. We always seem to experience the same inconsistency for indoor also. I think it will continue to improve for futsal from season to season. I actually invested some time pre-season to address that particular issue and had some dialogue with coaches of the SDL teams we play. For the most part, it all fell short for various reasons (location, deals w/other facilities for winter practice time or lighted fields, parents wanted indoor, etc, etc). By the way, aside from being overly physical for futsal, the girls were very competitive.

I guess we played against you in the finals, then? Mine played for 03 Texans and 02 Storm. We also scrimmaged an 01 girls team, which turned out to be one of the funnest games we had, there. You are right about the girls being overly aggressive. We even saw a choke-hold that was overlooked by the ref...they're just girls,lol.

I heard that DT 02B will field three teams in SDL in the Spring, 2 playing in D1 and 1 D2.

@1halfback -- 3 at least unless there was consolidation. Last season there were 6 total DT teams (excluding South). 2 in DI,II & III (Adloo, Scott, Dempsey, Garcia, Hudson, Rosales).

@ibystander -- was the Storm team for futsal only? or are the players affiliated with another team/club? Playing SDL?

Anybody know where Fagen's 02Bs surfaced? Solar? Liverpool? Andromeda?

Heard Fagen's team ended up at Liverpool.

Storm was for Futsal only. I think the players are from ASG and Texans.

Pass2space - Thanks! you are right about last season. Not sure if there would be consolidation. Only heard Scott would have two D1 teams (1st and 2nd team) and Adloo 1 team (probably a D2 team?). Sounds like there will be at least 1 other team (outside of South).

Should be another great season ...

I heard Fagen's team unded up scatttered. Some players at TFC and FC Dallas.
