What 97(s) are going to participate in this tournament??? It seems like it's going to or should be a good tournament. Is this the 1st annual for this event???

Apparently they play in the Tyler Open League, which is sort of a super-rec and small club league in East Texas (which I am personally glad to see). It's pretty hard for a lot of teams to travel all the way to the metro area for games, gas is expensive and it goes way beyond club dues when you add travel to the cost of playing club soccer. Having more localized leagues in areas like East and West Texas get more kids playing soccer and for me that's a good thing even if it isn't at the "highest level." Anyway back to the point, the FC Galaxy team seems to have GREAT results from their tournament resume and their league results from the fall were quite good also. I wouldn't sleep on them one bit.

Ok, now Irving Elite in the mix. Does that change your prediction?

Oh yeah the predictions has changed...i see where FCDG and IE are in the same bracket; they will still meet in the championship...

Both bracket "A" teams will blow-up the two from Bracket "B"...

Don't under sell FC Galaxy, they are a pretty good team. I expect them in the Semi-finals. Where did Liverpool(Melia)get a 97 team from? This team is listed as a 96 team on their website.

Opps! Just checked their website again. They now have a 97 and a 96 (Melia) team. How do you create a 97 team in the middle of the season?

Don't quote me on this, however I think the 96 team was made up of 97 and 96 boys and they now have enough to make two teams. The 97 boys are not made up in the middle of the season, they are getting them ready for the 2011/2012 season. July 1 is only seven weeks away.

Just got word from a old buddy of mine..."FC Galaxy team is not your particular etx team. They will not go down without a fight. The coach will use any/all tactics (legal) to compete with whomever they're on the field with. Also, the middle f/back was confirmed to be a "beast" on the field. Without him the defense struggles!!! He's a academy level player..."

Did anyone see the West Texas United vs Irving Elite game? Score is posted 2-0 in favor of WTU. No doubt WTU is a good team, but based on the other results, but this seems like a surprise.

Let it be known what I said last week in regards to this FC Galaxy team...They are the "real" deal!!! I had the priviledgeof watching both games on Sunday...vs-WT United & vs- FC Dallas Gold. By far they (FCGalaxy) was the best team in the tournament...FCG literally man handled all teams that they walked on the field with. The FCDG game was not even close; the score does not reflect how they controlled the first 68min of the game. In addition, the middle fullback (black kid) is by far the best defender I've seen this season. As for the coach; he coaches a way that NTX teams are not accustomed to. He spreads the ball-wide and then the "thru" ball is coming next. They are coached very well. The tactical awareness is one of the best i've seen.
I look forward to seeing more in the future from this team.

Glad to see a small independent non-Classic League team succeed...

Oh yeah...I did hear from a WT-United parent that they (the team) will be joining the FC Dallas organization this summer...FC-Dallas West

Tap on the brakes Winger! That's awesome FC Galaxy won an obscure tournament beating a 7th place D1 team on PKs. How you can say the game was not even close when they win after two overtimes and PKs is baffling. The way you talk, they would be a top tier D1 team. Again congrats to FC Galaxy and I hope they showcase their talents more in the future at higher-end tournaments.

FC Galaxy looks to be a fine team, but I think you are a bit too excited about winning a small tournament.

I'm not saying they are a top tier DI team. I was just impressed with their style of play. I saw the results from the President's Cup also. From what I was told by a FC Galaxy parent is that they only played with (12)players and (2) of the (12) were '98 guest players due to (3) of the original rostered players (all starters) had the flu and could not make it. Beating Classic League DI, DII, or DIII teams does not make any team a great team...it just states how Classic League is not as "classic" as it claims to be.
I do stand by comment "the game was not close"...last two minutes...FCD scored on (2) dead-balls...I counted only (3) real shots on goal from FCD the entire game.
