99 D1
So looks like FCD put 4 of their many 99 teams into D1, Texans 3, and Solar 2, and Andro 1(or was it 2). Big clubs doing well. FCD had the most get in, but Texans and Solar each put in 2 out of round 1 so have bragging rights there.

Re: 99 D1
So that makes 6 FCD teams and 4 Texans.
1/3 of all teams in the league from two clubs.

What would you rather have, quality or quantity, as a parent?

Not sure I get your point. Are you saying that because those clubs have 10 teams in Classic that their quality is somehow diminished?

I want everything.Axxman wrote:What would you rather have, quality or quantity, as a parent?
I understand that big clubs can offer nice facilities and highly qualified coaches.
I want quality, but I think there would be better quality if there was more competition in number of clubs. If only a couple of clubs control the league, then they have no need to work hard to provide a top quality product. If there are 20 or 25 clubs filling the 30 teams, then the clubs will be forced to provide the best coaching/training for the dollar. Not sure that near monopolies guarantee that.

and let's not forget proximity. Â I am unwilling to drive more than 15 minutes to get to practice.south wrote:I want everything.Axxman wrote:What would you rather have, quality or quantity, as a parent?

Re: 99 D1
All this Texan and FCD rah rah is obnoxious, that's all. Of the larger clubs, Solar and Andromeda are definately the "smaller" clubs with the smaller club feel. Bottom line is that assuming your bb is good enough to make the team, you follow your coach around and hopefully form a tight knit group along the way and pull of some good stuff as your bb develops. So who cares how many Texan or FCD teams made D1 or D2, heck, on their top teams you don't even get to pick the coach you want, he is picked for you.

Re: 99 D1
In the older age groups there are a lot of complaints about the bye system.
Now two clubs own 1/3 of the league. This might be interesting as the years go on in this age group.

It is still a league that you qualify for so at the end of the day, the teams that are in did so on the field.south wrote:In the older age groups there are a lot of complaints about the bye system.

Re: 99 D1
That's right Go, the teams had to win some games to get in. So they didn't bribe their way in. The amazing thing is that one club could round up enough talent at the academy level to put 6 CL level teams on the field. Of course, FCD had only two teams the year before (98) make CL, so partly it is just an unusual year. The texans had 3 get in last year, so their's was a bit lower too. I think in the end, for the parent and player, it still comes down to finding a team where your kid is going to develop in practices and get playing time, whatever the club name. No guarantee that you will find that on a "big club" team, no guarantee you'll find it on an indy team either.

If you are playing because of the club, you need to check your head. It is about the coach. Follow him/her wherever they may go and enjoy watching your's grow and learn. If they are not developing, find another option... there are many...
I have an Academy bb that has worn Texans and FCD...we follow the coach...

Does that mean if you didn't want Josema you would get to pick the one you want? Please. You are right about one thing, it doesn't matter how many teams from any club qualified, but don't try to take away from each team because of who they play for. They all earned it on the field.

Re: 99 D1
What club lets you pick your coach???
There are already coaches in place and then your son trys out for a team.
But your saying that you think you should be able to take your son to a club and say..." Ummm....I think we'll take this coach". I dont want a club that lets you pick your coach!!!!

Re: 99 D1
If I didn't want Josema, yes, I would pick the one I thought worked best for my bb and go from there. Assuming your bb is good enough to make one of the better teams, you go from there. If it meant having to end up on a Texan or FCD team, I would do it, but I would have to suck it up and take it for the sake of my kid, cause those clubs would not be to my personal liking. You can't tell me all the kids on your Texan team were thrilled with Craft cause I know that's not the case. Some of them are just putting up with it because of egos and wanting to be on the best team (for the time being anyhow), not because he is the best coach for their bb. I'm not taking anything away from your team, they are a great team, I'm just saying it may not be the best scenario for all of the kids on that team. Time will tell.ontherightside wrote:Axxman wrote:All this Texan and FCD rah rah is obnoxious, that's all. Re: 99 D1
I just wanted to add this... this 99' group is so talented that I know every parent and coach out there will say there tem will be the best but realistly the top 16 could make the the top 5 or top 10! there alot of great teams that can and will probably suprise the so called experts on here with wins and losses! I will pull for my BB's team but I do realize they could lose a handful of games as could every team out there including the DT(craft) team! this will be an interesting season to say the least!
