Will they have two brackets or how will the games play out? Until I see the format, I'll venture to guess only on the 4 that may not proceed to the elimination round;
FC Force
OC Wizards
FCD Gold
Barcelona???
I question my last pick because I don't know this team well, and I would have placed CC Orange their prior to yesterday's upset over Solar. But then again Barcelona only got beat 4-1 by the Texans, so perhaps they are a solid little team. So if it's not Barcelona getting eliminated, I'll have to go with either FCD Blue (although they should be fired up after a tough loss yesterday) or CC Orange.

Bracket 1 is a killer. Should be fun to see Andromeda and FCD battle it out in Bracket 3. Axx, taking bets yet?

Looks like Solar got the easy draw in bracket 2. Not sure why they didn't go with 4 groups of 3 as was originally intended. The FCD Suarez team looks to be having a difficult time scoring goals, so we shall see what happens. We also have a very solid player out injured (he was out yesterday too) so that will make the spread a little tighter. Ok, I'll take Andro Red over FCD Suarez and will give 1-1/2. You in? Oh, and the house always makes 10% juice.

The more I think about it, the way they are doing the brackets is screwed up. The number 3 and 4 seeds are both in Bracket 3, with only one team advancing and no wildcard. That means that lower seeds get a better chance to advance than higher seeds, doesn't make sense. They should have 4 brackets of 3 teams each, with the top two from each bracket advancing. This stuff is not that difficult to figure out, who runs these tournaments anyhow.

You are correct, my bad, but it still seems it would be much easier with 4 groups of 3 with top two from each advancing and getting rid of the wildcard system.rip wrote:wtf are you talking about? 8 teams advance. Re: 99 Plano Labor Day Groups are up
The only thing I don't like about 3 team groups is that either intra-group teams don't play each other, or they do and then have that 1 extra inter-group game that is luck-of-the-draw. 16 is definitely the best number for a tourney. They probably should have split the overall field so that Gold had 16 and Silver had 8. Would have made for much more straight forward group advancement in both cases.Axxman wrote:You are correct, my bad, but it still seems it would be much easier with 4 groups of 3 with top two from each advancing and getting rid of the wildcard system.rip wrote:wtf are you talking about? 8 teams advance. Re: 99 Plano Labor Day Groups are up
I'm sure they wanted quarters due to the long weekend, and they really have no control over who registers for gold vs. silver. The easiest way to get a three-game minimum was to just do three brackets of four. That being said, it's tough to try to put some predictions to these things becuase of the wildcard. You may have some fairly balanced brackets where they all beat up on each other causing lower point totals and then one bracket where a mid-level team is likely to lose to a high seed but also get a fairly easy win over a low seed. That win might get them the wildcard if they can get all 10 points.
It's even tougher to put predictions to these things after what happened this past weekend!

Seedings:
1. Solar Red
2. Solar Crawford
3. Andromeda Red
4. FCD Suarez
5. FWFC White
6. Gunners
7. Barcelona
8. FC Force
9. CC Orange
10. OC Wizards
11. FCD Gold
12. FCD Blue
Will they have two brackets or how will the games play out? Until I see the format, I'll venture to guess only on the 4 that may not proceed to the elimination round;
FC Force
OC Wizards

Hold on there Smurfy; If you recall, I changed my pick based on your comment about your bb guest playing. Rumor has it that there was at least one other, and perhaps a third guest player. So without knowing much about guest players and their respective "soccer quality", it is difficult to predict outcomes. So as much as you think that guest players don't make a difference, I can not accept fault this time around. I will however, buy you all a round of drinks which should even things out.

That actually is cool ! We really should get together at the end of the season and share our favorite drinks (Mojito for me please, it puts some rhythm in those legs and prepare for some good samba type of dribbles) . Then when we are really drunk we will head to a soccer field
