97 State Cup Analysis

Since I had a little time on my hands I did a little research on the brackets:

Bracket A-IE, DTRD, DTAG, SG

IE is 2-2-0 v the other D1 teams in the group and they are the favorite despite the past few weeks the team is just too good. IE tied the same team twice and beat the other team twice so things look good.

DTRD is 1-2-1 v the D1 teams in the group and have a possible wildcard chance. Tied twice against one team and split the meetings with the other. All scores ended 1-1 or 3-1.

DTAG is 1-0-3 v the D1 teams. Does not look good but 2 losses by 1 goal and the team can score.

SG is 1-1-2 v all D1 teams this season.

Bracket B-FCDC, AR, DTFW, DTRW

FCDC is 1-2-1 v the other D1 teams. Not a good draw for this team but should come out on top.

AR is also 1-2-1 v the D1 teams which gives them a chance to win the group.

DTFW is surprisingly 1-2-1 v the D1 teams which is why IMO no wildcard from this group. Any one of the D1 teams can get through.

DTRW is 1-1-3 v D1 teams and could take so points from the other three.

Bracket C(Group of Death)-SR, FCDB, FCDG, TFCR

SR is 3-0-1 v the other D1 teams and should do well but the other teams have given them some trouble.

FCDB is 3-0-1 v the D1 teams and when on a roll can be difficult to beat. For this reason no wildcard from this group.

FCDG is 0-0-4 v the D1 teams so they may be due for and upset but SR and FCDB have been very good lately.

TFCR is 2-0-2 v D1 teams and is the only D2 team without a losing record against D1 teams. They make this bracket that much tougher with the counfidence of running away with D2 night be able to pull off a win and tie.

7 teams have a better than average chance of getting to the semis and I can think of 5 different teams winning and it not surprising me.

My predictions:

Bracket A : Irving Elite

Despite a recent uncharacteristic poor form, this team has way too much talent and will come out on top

Bracket B: FC Dallas Central

A very good team that recently got even better with their new Brazilian players

Bracket C: FC Dallas Blue. Solar Red wild card

Both of these two teams should get very high points. Slight edge to FCDB.

Semifinals:

Irving Elite versus SR. Winner: Irving Elite

FCDB versus FCDC. Winner: FCDB

Final: Irving Elite versus FCDB. Winner: FCDB
