97B PPL Scores 10/3
Monterrey 2
Longhorns 1
It was a great game...unfortunately, Longhorns scored an own goal to give Monterrey the win. We definitely look forward to the next match up in the spring!!

Re: 97B PPL Scores 10/3
That's really unfortunate. I knew it would be a close game.
Aces 4 - Texas Blitz 0
Tigers 6 - Blaze 2 (not sure if that was the final score, but that was the score late in the game).
Post 'em if you got 'em.

Re: 97B PPL Scores 10/3
FWU 1 - 0 Xtreme - Very good game. FWU had some good chances in the first half and couldn't finish. Xtreme's defense played well and kept them in it throughout. With about 12-15 minutes remaining in the game, FWU had a player hit a crazy shot from about 20 yards out that just went over the keepers head.
TFC White 2 - 1 ASG - Upset of the day. TFC got the lead and then packed them in to hold off any serious threats from ASG. Surprising finish since ASG finished first in Plano last year.

Re: 97B PPL Scores 10/3
You were right about the FWU/Xtreme game, it was very close. I guess my 8-0 prediction was a little off...
I'm surprised TFC was able to score twice on ASG. Good for them!

Re: 97B PPL Scores 10/3
FWU was fortunate to get the W. FWU's goal was a rainbow from 25 yards that somehow went over the keeper and dropped in the net for the win. They had many chances in the first half but Xtreme denied them and played them tough in the second half and had an excellent chance to score towards the end of the game to tie it. The Xtreme keeper played an outstanding game but got caught on one awkward shot.

That McKinney team is strong. They're going to give lots of teams problems this year.

Re: 97B PPL Scores 10/3
Looks like things are starting to sort themselves out already. Assuming there were no huge surprises Saturday in any of the unreported games, the top half of PPL Group 2 would look like this:
Valencia 3-0
Tigers 3-0
Aces 2-0-1
Blaze 2-1
Boca Jrs 2-1
McKinney FC 1-1-1
This coming Saturday the big matchup is Aces vs. Blaze, the other five teams play teams ranked lower in the standings. Predictions coming later in the week.

The PYSA website posted this score as 4-1 in favor of Boca Jrs. Can anyone confirm who actually won this game?

Re: 97B PPL Scores 10/3
Posted the score in reverse they did! Keep on top of them we must! No worries Yoda.
I would have been surprised if Boca won that game by such a large margin based on what I've seen from those two teams so far.

IMO the 98’s have not settled in well with the 97’s yet, there was too much individual play going on.

Re: 97B PPL Scores 10/3
I saw about a half of the Boca's opening game and noticed the same thing. They have some talented players for sure, but it looked like their attacks were mostly individual efforts. When they run into teams with a strong defense (like McKinney's) they will have trouble scoring.
