I'll play Without knowing much about how some of these teams fared in the offseason...here is my projected order with a comment or two.
1. DTRW: Seemed to play well at the end of the year - heard they picked up a few good players
2. FCD/Comets: Big, physical team and I heard most are back from last season. FCD connection could have helped recruiting
3. Solar Red: Beat big brother Solar in State Cup - will challenge for top 2 if they kept their guys or signed better ones
4. DT white: Who knows. I am assuming (without hearing anything) they will have some duel-rostered PA players which should make them better. If not they could be bottom 3.
5. 16 Amigos: Mystery guest. I like their name so I am putting them in the top 5
6. Andro: Decent team at times last season but inconsistent. My guess is more of the same.
7. Select Force: Limited recruiting opportunities in East TX suggests limited upside. Guessing they will be competitive but will be hard pressed to crack top half
8. Club Classic: Not sure what is happening here - no indication of needed improvement
9. Andro Red: who knows
10. Tejanos: Apparently have 4-5 players from D1 American Eagles, but who knows what else. GotSoccer is only showing 14 on the roster which could make 45 min halves tough. Good coach but he can't play.

Re: 96 CL 2012-13 D2 pecking order
Well every year there is turnover and optimism. The teams with the most turn over will be the hardest to figure.
FCD / Comets, I like this coach alot, they should be in top 4
Solar Red - got a lot better, all top players returning, plus key additions including 1 from Club Classic
DTRW added some but lost some, they will be about the same
Club Classic lost more than they gained
Predicted order of finish
1. FCD/Comets
2. Solar Red
3. Andro Red
4. Tejanos
5. DTR West
6. Club Classic
7. DT White
8. 16 Amigos
9. Select Force
10. Andro

Re: 96 CL 2012-13 D2 pecking order
Solar Red - I too heard they got better. They already had a good starting 11 so the additions must be pretty salty.
FCD/Comets - doesn't everyone realize that this team is 3rd in line behind the 2 D1 teams? What kind of talent is going to trickle down?
DTRW - they picked up some of White's players... doesn't make them any better.
Andro Red - if they were able to keep the core together, they should finish top 5.
16 Amigos - I too like the name... TOP 5!
Club Classic - lost their keeper, one other player to Solar evidently. They'll keep their head above relegation waters.
Select Force - Not sure if their style (kickball) will win games in D2. I see lots of ties.
Andro, DTW, and Tejanos... bunk mates all year long. These games should be fun!
Solar Red and FCD/Comets run away with this division. Are either of them D1 caliber? Solar beat big bro in state cup; Comets didn't do as well but they're still a solid team.

16 Amigos? Is that real or a joke? It is cute, but if it's real, what was their name before this?

I think you'll find this independent team exceedingly well coached with some very strong players. Team has largely been together since u13/14 and has added a bit of talent each year and lost relatively few players.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how they do and will absolutely be pulling for them.

Re: 96 CL 2012-13 D2 pecking order
My son, who happens to be on this new version Tejanos team, has a few friends on the Amigos.
He grew up playing with a very strong player on Amigos starting at 4 years old until about 11/12 yrs old when they both jumped to academy, etc. Still have a picture of that U5 team on the shelf. ; )
Also friends with a boy who he played with at Trinity HS. (BB plays Keeper at Trinity)
Both are very strong players. This team will be a sneaky one.
As far as the Tejanos, I won't make any bold predictions other then I expect them to play hard and be a little better than most expect. Team is still meshing but there is definitely a spark and a grit with this group.

Sneaky will work against the bottom half of the division. Good luck to the indy team, show everyone that good soccer doesn't cost another house note.

I'll give it a shot...
Andro Red v. Select Force: SF is big and fast up top, and they bypass the midfield playing direct to their strikers. Andro Red coming down from D1 may struggle with the size and speed. SF 1-0
Tejanos v. Amigos: How many players returning to Tejanos? The teams moving up often fare better than the teams moving down. I've seen Amigos play, albeit last season. 1-1 draw.
FCD/Comets v. Andro: FCD/Comets will be at or near the top at year end. Andro lost a few, not sure who they gained. They struggled at the start last year but got things together as the season progressed. Bertl's boys 3-0.
Solar Red v. DTW: Solar Red had a strong offseason at State Cup and a Houston tournament where they beat Select Force twice to win the title. Kept their top 14 players, and dramatically strengthened the rest of the roster. They should compete with FCD/Comets for the title bar injuries (they were hit very hard by the injury bug at the end of the Fall season last year). No telling which Texans players moved where in the offseason. Solar Red 3-1.
DTRW v. Club Classic: CC lost a strong player to Solar Red. DTRW came on strong last season, but again, no telling which Texans players moved where. DTRW 2-1.

Re: 96 CL 2012-13 D2 pecking order
Amigos over Tejanos 8-3. Maybe 7 but I think it was 8.
There was a stretch of 12 minutes where Amigos scored 3/4 goals in first half.
I believe the Amigos will be better than most think.
No excuses for the Tejanos. Though they need work on gelling/playing togther on the field and a bit more conditioning. Tejanos started strong but the middle was bad. They finished with some energy. Definitely feeling some of that full 90 pain.
But Cheers to the 16 Amigos for a solid, consistent, patient attack. Well played.

Good for Andro. A friend told me SR was up 3-1 with about 20 minutes to play and lost all composure. Says they had about 5 yellow cards. Friend said the white team looked different than last year. Is Shamu still the coach? I liked his style.

What style would that be? The kick and run game that has the team in the bottom half of the table every year?
Anyone know the results from the other two games?

How can anyone like Shamu's style... From personal experience, he doesn't coach at all. He sends the team out and tells them to win, no coaching at all. Practices are the same way...

That was surprising, as was the DTRW 0-3 pummelling by Club Classic. Take those with Solar Red getting tied and I would summarize that nobody (including myself) knows much about this division really.

from what I have heard from several, it was the oposite. 'The score was closer than the game', and the one goal scored by Comets was due to a missed offsides.

Andromeda could have easily won the game 10-1 or 11-1 (not over exaggerating). There were a lot of golden chances that Andromeda just couldn't put away or that FCD's goalkeeper had excellent saves on. The only way FCD will do well this year is because of their goalkeeper. Their offense was non-existent. It will be a very along and different season for FCD/Comets if their offense doesn't come alive.

Did anyone notice short benches the first week of play? Injuries already a factor?
At D2, when you go 2-3 deep into the bench you see the difference on the field. Maybe DTRW and Solar already have players out. Maybe FCD/Comets did lose players to D1 and/or academy.
