Thanks, Puke. We are retired from competitive soccer. Too much money, not enough return on investment. However, oldest bb has 6 games to ref this weekend, so he'll need gloves. Youngest plays pointy ball, so he'll need gloves, too.

One more week of Fall Classic League.... any more surprises?

Was not very suprised by the DT (Thornber) v. FCD Gomez result as Gomez has one of the best defenses in the league ( ranked 2nd) and is very well organized. FCD Gomez is up to 11th and expect them to climb in top ten by the end of the year.

Some big movers in the last few weeks are TFC and LP Gerrard in the positive direction as TFC is now 12 and LP Gerrard is 14. At one time both of these teams hovered in the 18-20 range. Sporting has fallen out of the top ten and Arsenal and Texans Suns are just hanging on to top ten spots.

DTS and SR are starting to create some space from the pack with the DT tie, but it is shaping up to be a great second half to the season with some real intersting races for the top ten spots.

@Gatorz, is interesting how you feel about the " FCD Gomez has one of the best defenses in the league ( ranked 2nd) and is very well organized" when their in 11th place with a L/3 D/4 W/2 and have a GF/10 and GA/8. I have a question who ranked them and who is #1??

That ranking was created solely by me and based only upon GA during league play. The current standing for goals against are:

1. SR-5
2. FCD GOMEZ-8
3. DTS-9
4. DT SCOTT -10

etc......

This may not be everyones opinion on how good a defense is, but it is to me. If you keep the other team out of your goal. you are playing good defense.

I'm guessing he ranked them 2nd based on Goals Against. They have only allowed 8 goals in 9 games this fall--2nd only to Solar Red. I don't know if they're the second best defense, but they do seem to play a lot of 0-0, 1-1, 1-0 games.

One could argue they've played 3 of the weakest offenses in the league in DT Red, Sporting United, FCD South Blue which have only scored 4, 6 and 9 goals respectively this season, and they get Real Estudiantil to close out the fall so their stats should still look good after that one.

There are 3 other teams tied with FCD Red at 10 points in the standings. I'd say LP Gerrard has a better chance of moving up into the top 10 than FCD Red. They are tied on points yet LP Gerrard has played 7 of the top 10 teams winning 2. FCD Red has played 4 of the top 10 teams drawing 2 of them. Their defense had better play exceptional the rest of the way because they don't score much. They've scored 10 goals in 9 games, but 5 of them came against AYSES. The other 5 goals are spread over 8 games. Going to be tough to collect enough points to move into top 10 with so many draws.

You are right debit, it was just based on GA. Should have probably called it " 2nd ranked defense based on GA", would have been more clear.

As to who stays up in top ten, that looks like anyones guess, but conceding few goals does help. LP Gerrard has weathered the storm very well having the hardest schedule of all teams so far, if that is still correct.

But basing that on just GA is going a little to the extreme to rank them, maybe some of the other teams defense are more risky then others look at the over all scores? Just my opinion
