TFC- NICE TEAM. HAVE SEEN THEM PLAY VERY WELL AGAINST SOME VERY GOOD TEAMS AND STRUGGLE AGAINST TEAMS THEY SHOULD HANDLE.

gotsoccer is too random to be dependable but it gives you something to look at.

OS: I totally agree. Got Soccer ranking are based on tournament results. Can you say - guest player. No guest players in the challenge tournament. Just thought it would be a good place to start.

How many teams do you think will enter the tournament? New format this year. Last year the Lake Highland Girls U15 had 13 teams in the tournament playing for 4 open slots. Boys have 8 open slots.

I might not have posted much but my comments definitely not based on Got Soccer.I have been involved in the game for over thirty years as player, coach and admin, mostly in mid atlantic so yes i am relatively new to NTX. My family loves the game and we have enjoyed watching our son progress and improve every year. No clouded judgement as we know his team will have to show up in top form for each game. That has been an issue all season as they seem to have played to the level of their competition.
Based my comments on having watched most of these teams play( new position at work has afforded me much more weekend viewing time). My sons team has also played quite a few of them as well.
I agree with Seinfeld that guest players very much cloud the earned ranking points, but some of those teams who used a number of guests could quite possibly have those same players on their roster through inner club transfer.
Afrank, i would assume all 8 classic teams will participate as well as at least 10 teams each from APL and PPL. I hope they do not use got soccer for seeding. The classic teams earned their way in last season so they should be the top 8 seeds.

I don't know how they will seed but I disagree with the idea that the classic teams earned their way in last season. There is always room for error, but the way I see it.

The Cobras, Legacy, and Texas Lightning Black earned their way into Classic in May 2012.
Texas Lightning Gold, Deportivo, and Manchester earned their way into Classic in May 2011.
Liverpool earned their way into Classic in May 2010.
FCD Red, FCD Central Red (Comets), and Azzurri earned their way into Classic in the original qualifying tournament in 2009.

I don't necessarily believe rewarding a team with a higher seeding for future competition based on what they earned in past seasons (2009 - 2011) is such a good idea.

It might be a bad analogy, but it's kinda like overpaying for (rewarding) an aging NFL free agent based on what they did in the past vs. what they can do in the future.

Im just hoping my boy's team decides to join the fray. I believe it'll be competitive no matter how many coaches/parents are upset about seeding.

DOD...good point.My sons team is not one of the classic teams and have been inconsistent so they will take what they receive and go play. However they seed, there will be some very interesting match ups. Should make for an entertaining two weekends.

That TFC is an odd team to digest. they should have been in classic but keep laying eggs in the tourneys to get in. you see them in other tourneys against upper level teams and they do very well. I have a friend whose BB is on that team and I hope they finally make the jump and play well in a challenge tournament.
