The German wrote:I tried to set soemthing up like that last winter but none of the clubs I spoke to were interested. The idea was the first 4 are the red team, the next blue and so on and you play for 15 minutes and then switch around. No parents, no coaching just playing. Of course I thought it's a great idea but ...omega striker wrote:nope just show up and kids divide up or smallest ones pick first and just play no keeping of score and switch kids around after every so many minutes just play no pressure to win and no coaches allowed, lol! that includes PARENTS! just play for an hour or two and go home!go99 wrote:would be great but would probably delve into people bringing teams and being coached to win. Would be great to have a weekend setup for the boys to just show up and pick teams then play.
The FCD liga was pretty much that - we did it one season and the girls loved it. It was basically first one to two - no coaching, throw them out there. The only thing that would have been even better is to have no parents watch them and not even have the coaches present. This was on the girl's side - so, if you didn't have adult supervision - you'd end up with the girls sitting in a circle on the field discussing nail polish. The boys would probably play - similar to any birthday party at an indoor facility - they just go out there and have fun.

We do, can as parents, to it happen.
Anytime too. Frankly I feel that we all know enough people around to make it happen. The next step is to find a place. So far the most convenient I have found is sole roll. Do we, as parents, can make it happen ?[/quote]go99 wrote:BB would be game for some pick up soccer anytime.

Frank has worked with all my BBs. You can see a remarkable difference in skills after a few sessions. $20 per session, at Inwood or Sole Roll. 404-259-5281. Another good trainer is Joel. We've also started attending his sessions on Sundays. He's at Sole Roll. I know he has a group session almost every Sunday from 9ish to noon.

I believe Ray Burse from the FCD pro team does individual goalie skills. Shouldn't be too hard to get his contact info

True, Plantit. The best skills coaches are the parents. Get involved. You may even learn a few things from them.

Re: Best Indivdual Skills Coaches
I just came by this and thought I would forewarn others to about Joey Kennington. I saw him coach a team and was intrigued and had my daughter try him out while still with her other club. He sweet talks all the new parents and then changes face after a couple of practices. We also see him berate the kids in a demoralizing way while at the same time sending emails on how to be a "good" parent.
He may be a good fit for some, but with the surplus of soccer coaches constantly getting rave reviews, it is worth looking around. Oh yeah, he has fees for eveything.. Including $80 field dues.

Was confused too, but name in subject line of post. We like Adi. We like our normal coach. Sometimes before you go play in the backyard with dad for an hour its nice to learn a few tricks to abuse him with before he sweeps your leg.
