Who is doing Futsal at their local school or church gym?
Futsal (especially on hard court and physical play discouraged) is great but facilities are rare and expensive. Looks like, more than a few informed coaches around the US are renting their local school/church gym to keep futsal accessible/affordable like the comment from one St. Louis coach below...
Who is doing this in DFW and where?
<<<<I rented gym for girls from U9 - U13 at $25 an evening (1.5 hrs) and just let the girls play with very limited stopping to show something that continually did wrong or had troubles with. Girls loved it, and got tons of touches. 4 v 4 with no goalies, had basically hockey nets for goals that school furnished. They were excited to come each week because they got to just play the game. But I would never spend $700-$800 for a league when you can get a gym for a fraction of the cost. You can always invite teams in and mix it up here and there>>>>

Pad you can be even more simple, futsal can be played on basketball and even tennis courts if you can find them. Concerning league play however, I think most people still enjoy the more structured environment that most futsal leagues provide like facilities, supervision, and refs. Insurance is in there somewhere as well I think. Regardless I think it's a great and beneficial experience for the player.

$25/practice
2 practices/week
3 Months (or 15 weeks)
$25 * 2 * 15 = $750 Total
$750 is an "OK" deal but you're definitely not getting a steal there.

I would sign up my U8 DD and U5 BB with an independent coach in an instant who is running 2 Futsal practices/week in a gym/basketball court close to my location. Assuming there are 10 kids on the roster (conservatively), that's $75 per kid. For that you get 30 1.5 hour quality sessions away from inclement weather. Let's see, that comes to $2.5 per session per kid. I would pay that in addition to any other team /coach/league fees. I am just hoping to find such a coach/team in my neck of the woods (this is the catch..)Commuting more than 20 minutes each way to get to practices, several days a week over long term is a non starter.
