2013 - 2014 D1 and D2 rankings Empty Re: 2013 - 2014 D1 and D2 rankings

Texans, FCD & Solar D1 teams have been gutted by PA. In a positive sense, since the top guns selected for PA will have more rigorous, frequent, and intense training with peers that are at a similar level. Overall, the top talent at the clubs will continue to be developed. The cost, is the D1 teams won't be as strong. It's a good trade-off for these clubs.

The wildcards;
- how many PA players will be dual-rostered
- of the PA players dual-rostered; will the teams exclude the '00 born kids, will they exclude the PA starters, etc.

Texans and FCD have a lot of depth because of the number of 01 players on the clubs. So they were able to back-fill the losses without much pain. Solar will be ok, but they don't have the same level of depth as Texans and FCD.

The independents will get their "licks" in early in the season. But Texans, FCD and Solar will recover within a month or so. Not to the same degree as before, but they won't drop in quality as much as people think.

Tx Lightning and Sporting United will get off to a sprint. Liverpool will be a darkhorse contender.

Also to consider, this is the first year the 01 boys can qualify for the Dallas Cup. So the Fall portion of the season will be CRITICAL to the teams fighting for a chance to earn a coveted slot into the most prestigious youth tournament in the United States.

The Surf Cup might argue about that prestigious statement?

Dallas Cup is just a stop over for the Cali teams to come and kick the crap out of NTx teams and then on to the Surf Cup for some real competition.

All 8 quarterfinalists in the '01 division at the Surf Cup last week were California teams. Not a surprise for a Cali-centrist tournament. It's indeed a very good tournament. But not too many '01 teams from outside California ventured to San Diego for the tourney.

FC Golden State Academy sends squads to the Dallas Cup, so we will likely see the '01 Surf Cup champ at the 2014 Dallas Cup.

The only '01 team I saw on the Surf Cup schedule that had any cross-over with NTX teams in the past year is Colorado United White. This team lost 0-1 to FWFC White in May at the Real Colorado Cup. They also lost to FCD Premier 01, 1-3, at the 2012 edition of the Real Colorado Cup.  The Colorado squad had an one-and-two record at the Surf Cup, getting spanked by the Cali teams and only beating the team from Washington. It does kinda reinforce the point that California teams tend to dominate competition outside the state. FCD El Paso from STX was 0-3 in group play.
