Belgium pop 11 million Empty Belgium pop 11 million

A lot of the topics in this article have been discussed ad nauseam, but it is amazing that after giving up the win at all costs approach about ten years ago little Belgium has a top 10 international squad that boasts Hazard, Lukaku, Kompany, Benteke, Fellani, Dembele -- to name a few.

TX at three times the size has generated Dempsey and a few bordeline national team class players who made it despite the system, or lack thereof.

Cool article with a very interesting approach. I can only imagine the backlash here in the US if the National team staff told all the youth leagues what formations their teams were to play... but it certainly has merit.

I guess to some degree this is what Claudio Reyna has attempted to put in place with the National coaching curriculum he created... a more unified vision from the bottom to the top.... and will take as many years ( as Belgium) to be accepted and implemented.

As far as I'm concerned if all the Belgium system ever created was Eden Hazard then it is a resounding success.

Interesting.

Re the prior response, here is hoping that Thorgan Hazard joins his brother one day, and that Lukaku proves his worth to Jose at Everton.
