Winter Weather Gear for Parents
I did not want to hijack the Fall Festival thread and the bad weather, but as parents who have endured winter tournaments, can anyone share their favorite winter weather gear and brand recommendations?
For example, Cabela's is my go to store. On my feet, I wear some Heavy Duty socks and Liners. I have some old Timberland leather boots from about 15 years ago that are still in good condition. The socks tend to be too warm when it is 40 degrees or more so I just bought some Medium Weight socks.
I bought some ski pants years back during Michael Brown from Sports Authority. With those and thermal underwear, I'm good. I just recently bought some flannel lined pants from Cabela's and will try them out this weekend. I'm not sure how they'll hold up in the rain compared to the ski pants. I'm also looking at some Carhartt® Quilt-Lined Duck Bib Overalls. They're not pretty but the reviews are very positive ("you can sit in a bank of snow all day in these"). Anyone have these?
Also, for my top, I usually layer with thermal underwear, tee shirt and flannel shirt. Then I wear a heavy Carhartt Artic coat. Usually keeps me toasty but I look like I'm about 15 pounds heavier with all the bulk. I'd get the Coveralls but then I doubt my wife would sit with me, but they look very warm.
I have some heavy mittens that are good but can't use my phone with these. Anyone have a good recommendation?
For hats, I have a few that keep me warm but they're not too attractive.
My wife can use some tips from some of you women on the board.
Anyone have anything else to add?

Re: Winter Weather Gear for Parents
I pulled out my "high school soccer coat" this morning to wear tonight. Bought it at Burlington years ago when other son played high school soccer. Needed something warm and water repellent. It has down feathers. That and a warm hat and my isotoners and I'm ready. Used to wear leggings under my jeans but won't have time tonight, will have to arrive in work clothes and my high school soccer coat and hope for the best!! Hopefully I'll remember to grab a blanket, but it's going to be rush, rush, rush tonight.

Wear layers, the more the merrier. Softer cotton material close to your skin, then flannel, then a down filled water resistant jacket w/hood. Wear thick socks.
Bring a blanket.
Wear gloves, not mittens, you need fingers to open your flask.
Being warm is more important than how you are going to look.

It's the wind that's the killer. I never understand why some people (a.k.a. my wife) pick clothes that aren't wind resistant.

The coveralls are great. Have a cheap insulated pair and they work great. Had some Carharts years ago when I worked outside up north and I will tell you they are not lieing. I could not even wear them unless it was below 15 degrees or I would get cooked. I also had the appearance issue with my wife, "you look stupid". My reply " No the people standing there shivering look stupid."

My car. Park it as close to the field as possible. Sit in it.

Re: Winter Weather Gear for Parents
Saw somebody bundled up in a sleeping bag one year at a tournament. Put their feet inside and wrap it up around. Kept them warm and toasty! Hat or Hood helps for your head. We use the foot warmers and hand warmers. Stick the hand warmers inside the pocket of your coat. It keeps your body warm and warms your hands. Recommend wearing gloves because those things get HOT. Might want to start them heating early. Otherwise it's cold through the first half of the game and warm for the next 3 hours.
