Ditto well done Dom
Weird that my 11 year old boys asked me why our Friday night game was canceled. He has asthma and hates the cold but said to me it's not that cold. I didn't really know what to say but somewhere deep inside I kind was happy we didn't have to play Friday night until I found out we had a game an hour apart. We understood the cancellations effected the schedule and was just glad that the tourney was held.
The question is will the premature cancellations continue. Only time will tell.

Was your game cancelled or just rescheduled? If rescheduled, you still got your game in (so not cancelled).
I had heard they were getting lots of blowback from parents about the cold on Friday night - that people did not want to play. So maybe your game had to be rescheduled or else you would have had no opponent. Who knows. If you you got your game in, seems all was pretty good, considering the weather and muddy fields.

I should have used the word rescheduled. And yes I know that parents were providing significant blowback about the cold. ( See my earlier rant on canceling the Winter Olympics since humans can't survive in temperatures below 40F)
Where I was going on about premature cancellations was, Classic league, and a lot of the tourneys that have gone by recently. Again I fully understand that the decisions have to be made for teams that come from Midland or the like. Again don't get me wrong I'll complain about the cold as much as the next guy and complain about the heat as much as the next guy. However, it's part of what we signed up for so to me you have to learn how to handle it. For my two 8:00 AM games dressed with a thick Jacket gloves and handwarmers I survived the winter mix in the mornign (32 or so) to have to take off the polar bear jacket by the after noon game Saturday. I know for a lot I'll loose the argument that games can be played below freezing if one layers properly and warms up properly. Dang you learn pretty quickly that you better keep moving on the pitch so you don't get cold. I know I am not a lone wolf out here. I use the kid test, when kids on my team that complain more about the cold then others come in the morning and say coach it ain't that cold. I think I have to beleive the words of the child. Looks like another cold one Thursday, I'll be wearing the Polar Bear jacket again. I may show some solidarity with the girls at the 8:00 PM game and go shirtless to show them I can feel their pain. In thinking through this though my Parents may not want to see such a sight and my DD would be embarassed by her crazy dad so maybe just shorts....
