I have a feeling we wont be seeing DT Eligio in tournaments any time soon. I heard apart from the obvious on the field with uniforms he didnt have proper paper work for those guest players and had 16 on roster of (14max) with out jersey numbers associated to player names. With this and what happen in Nov. I have to drop DT Eligio out of my personal Top 5.

Soccerdad100 what are you talking about? My BB guest played on the Eligio for the past tournament and none of that happened. Eligio had all my paperwork the week before. One kid (who i know is a regular forgot his white jersey for 1 game and had to wear another players) but other than that nothing you said is even remotely true. You really need to let last fall go man. I was on one of the other teams last fall and I am telling you i would not have let my BB play with Eligio is that situation was not properly addressed and it was. As far as your personal top 10 fine man whatever, but even the other posters who were there say they deserved the championship. If you want to start a # for Notmynumberoneteam got for it I'm sure there is room right next to the #notmypresident peeps

I agree Ehlodog. Eligio and his team played by the rules and won. Let the teams play and the results will speak for themselves.

Why does everyone count tournaments in rankings, when the teams are using guest players? It seems like league play is more indicative of how good a team is.

I agree with Henry14 Leauge, Division, Bracket should be weighed in more. I can see one or 2 guest players to help in tournaments but if you have 5 or more (for 7v7) what really is a team gaining. With that said my new top 5.

1- DTS
1- Tigers FW
3- Solar Dudley
4- Allegiance
5- DT Densk

Can anyone speak to the results of the Shawnee Trail Shootout this last weekend? The 09 bracket was only 5 teams - 4 of which were FCD. I'm not familiar w/ any of them...

I also noticed that 09 Solar Dudley played in - and won - the 08 silver bracket. Not sure if this moves the needle on the 09 top 10 landscape -but most curious about the FCD teams that played 09. Dudley seemed to beat some good teams too - but clearly the high end of 08s weren't in this one.

Roster's are very fluid during league play at this age, as well...The bigger clubs can shuffle players between teams very easily in most leagues. At the academy ages, my oldest has played for 4 different teams in the same league over 1 weekend,2 on Saturday 2 on Sunday. (technically the Saturday and Sunday leagues are different leagues).

Ok finally a decent and deep 09 field. Can Brazil repeat against Allegiance or was that fluke? Will DTS run the table or Solar Dudley make a move?

my guess of 4 teams to make semis - Allegiance, Tigres, DTS, Solar Dudley

where is Eligio though? and where has DT Palmesque been?

This tournament is up for grabs, should be fun. My pick would be Dudley, I heard they picked up some strong kids.

Who? Boys from DT Rosales?

FCD Fernandez and Woodberry will be two teams to watch. Rumor has it that DT Salazar may have an 09 team soon.

Looks like we will have to wait until the late summer tournaments in August to get another view of the top 10 2009 boys teams. I would think the new City FC team will be up there as well. I heard Solar Dudley picked up a few of the Solar Kennedy 09 kids..... Anyone know what happened to Solar Kennedy?

Didn't realise Rosales had 09 team? That Farmers Branch area needs a 09 team, not many to pick.

8-0 against silver level teams, i don't think will be a contender at gold level, but top silver level team for sure. From what i heard from a parent at a camp who knew, Kennedy had two 09 Teams, a Silver level and a Gold level. The Gold level team split up with core splitting evenly half to Dudley and other half to form NTX Santos - a team that trains at the Peter Luccin Academy. Anyways should be interesting year, but that solves what happened.

How so? I heard some rumors from different people on different teams I know. We weren't in it but the feedback I heard and saw on social media was the fields were small and refs were bad the normal complaints though this time from people who normally don't complain so I am leaning to believe that was true this time. Also heard the whole scoring from kick off from several people both in silver and gold brackets. seemed like crappy coaches trying to win to keep the sheep in line though some might see that as part of gamemenship.

For all the reasons you just said! The Refs kept changing the call after the play was made. Kids on the field were so confused and it was like a mind game for the boys caused by the ref. The ref made the boys redo a direct kick that was scored and it was a perfectly good goal. I'm not even a parent, but I could even see the team who won shouldn't have even been in finals.

@ballz - Who should have been in the finals and/or won? I didn't see the semi's - but assuming you're saying solar shouldn't have won - they beat NTX Santos 6-3 in semi's...did they get 3+ unfair goals?

Now is good as any time to put up the top 10 preseason 2009 list. (based on wins not based on style- style would be completely different)

1. NTX Eligio (formerly Dallas Texans) - surprised they jumped from DT and formed new club
2. Dallas Texans South
3. Allegiance - I know they had some so-so results lately but they still 3 in my book.
4. TIGRES ACADEMY FT WORTH 09 JIMENEZ
5. tie between Brazil, Solar Dudley and NTX Santos (looked at PLD they all lost and won against each other so not enough data to say which of these is ultimately better)
6. see above
7. see above
8. Elite United
9. DT Palomeque
10. Garland Tigres

Other teams just out; FCD Depew, Dallas Texans Jdensk Red, FCD Adrian West

@ cruiser I'm not sure who should have won the game, but there were so many bad calls in that game I felt bad for the kids. They all looked confused by the refs goal call backs and the game turned into a kickoff challenge. It robs the kids and the true spirit of the game.

i agree, tournament was horrible. Refs did not know when to call a direct or indirect kick. i wouldn't draw any conclusions from this tournament. Im not sure what to make of that semifinal game between solar and santos but seems to be a good rivalry going forward. i will say that dudley tactically outcoached santos. Yelled at his kids to only worry about defense the whole game then kicked ball down field. Also wasnt impressed with calling off kids to not shake hands after first meeting but okay to shake hands after win.

Although I agree, the refs were horrible at this tournament and I also agree that direct kicks on a field size where boys can score from their defensive third, is absolutely absurd and does not teach these boys good soccer.  In my opinion, All should be indirect except PK.  But this was not the case.  Coaches had to adapt the the tournament rules. In the case of the Santos v Solar semi final, Solar was up 4-2, and took a shot off kick off to bait Santos into this style of game, and Santos took the bait.  Solar respected Santos enough to know they could make up 2-3 goals quickly.  Santos is obviously a great team, as they are made up entirely of boys that were all -stars with other clubs..  I think it is sad and dis-respectful to take anything away from Solar Dudley.  They battled through a tough start to this tournament and made the right adjustments to win it.  Solar entered tournament without one of their better players, and still came out on top..
The Final was done with the most class possible.  Both coaches gave pre-game speeches, both coaches agreed they wouldn't do kick off shots, both teams and parents met at center and prayed for Houston.  Their was respect before, during, and after the game. This is how all these teams and parents should act. This age group is made up of 8 year old boys, and for parents & coaches to get so upset, is embarrassing to ntx soccer.  To go to a forum, or social media and say a team doesn't deserve to win, is just sad..
I thought this tournament showcased 4 of the top 09 teams.. and all the teams had bad calls made for them and against them.  That's Soccer...  Did the best team win the tournament, maybe and maybe not, but they were the best on Monday..

Oh and to try to rank these teams is ridiculous.  With all the guesting going on, one team might look like the best team with certain players and then look like a silver level team another weekend.. We can argue that all day..

these are 8 year old kids who love to play soccer. I guarantee you none of them on either side is even talking about the game(s) today. Let alone how goals were scored, were they long shots or build ups, etc. They all went to school and are looking forward to recess and having ice cream as a treat. The level of sour grapes and holier-than-tho is a bit much... They are also gonna high five the kids from other teams and still be friends.

Let the kids enjoy it at least for a bit longer before you ruin it w/ the sideline chaos
