2013 - 2014 Banter?

01/14 Result: Marcus 4 - 0 Keller

I wonder if multiple games in a short amount of time last weekend had a lasting effect on the Keller squad. I know some club coaches that equate tournament schedules with multiple games in a day to child abuse.

I am formulating a theory, based on dialogue and link with results in this thread...
I am thinking FM Marcus is a good team.

Anyone have a link for the "Brewer" tournament happening at this time?

The Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament is happing right now in Central Florida where some of the nations top ranked high schools showcase their talent.

Coppell won their first game yesterday 5-0. Previously ranked #3 in the country, Coppell fell to #6 after a surprise tie at the Klein tournament in Austin last weekend.

The article/ranking supports what I suspect: Coppell and FM Marcus are very good teams (as well as is any team who plays competitively with them).

What is going on with Southlake right now?

So far? No depth, an inability to control the ball, a reliance on the long ball to score goals, an overall poor first touch, an inability to string more than 3 or 4 passes together in any one sequence, an inability to play consistently through an entire game (seems they have started very slow in a number of their games/scrimmages and given up one or more quick goals before settling down). Should I go on?

My opinion? They've got a few boys that have solid skills, overall they have good team size and speed but a lot of the team look to be PPL level players (in terms of their skill on and off the ball). Their typical roster is filled with D1/D2 quality players and this year it doesn't appear to be. They will either gel at some point and figure out a way to win with what they have, or it will be a very long season for them. O is a solid coach and gets a great deal out of whatever talent he is given, I wouldn't count them out just yet.

Though I won't dispute the team has looked rough so far this season.

I believe Southlake has critical mass in terms of the volume of kids playing soccer, similar to Coppell and Flower Mound. Tradition says they will find their way. I would never count them out with Coach O at the helm. IMO, the regular season is just a warm-up for State, so there is plenty of time...

Completely agree. I would be surprised if the team didn't gel at some point and start finding a way to win.

Final Coppell vs Montverde. Watching on TV at a local deli. About 100 fans here cheering on our boys!

Both teams play great soccer. Good first touch, accurate passing, build up of play and fluid attacks. Two of the best teams in the country putting on a great showcase!

Montverde won, 1-0 I think. They are in Florida and are currently ranked #1 in the US.
