98 boys State Cup - Kicks
Judging from the scores, looks like the Kicks exceeded expectations more than any other 98B team at the State Cup this weekend. Was it due to guest players?

Guest players are not allowed in State Cup. So how many did the Kicks have?Freeatlast wrote:Judging from the scores, looks like the Kicks exceeded expectations more than any other 98B team at the State Cup this weekend. Was it due to guest players?

Doubt they had any guest players. Kicks have always played the top 98 teams tough. The team is stronger now then they were in the past. They should be able to finish in the 5-7 range in first division next season.
Shouldn't this post be with the 98 posts?

Re: 98 boys State Cup - Kicks
Fabiano9,
Thank you for the kind words. It is difficult for an Independent to get a lot of love. We played with the same roster we used all year to win D2 and earn a D1 spot. The team played great this weekend and the boys competed at a very high level. Gave TFC Royal all they wanted in a 2-2 tie. Finished with the same record but lost out on total points. Beat Tigres 2-1 in another fantastic game. We placed 5th out of 16 teams and finished behind only Solar (Smith) in total goals. Not bad for a little independent. Looking forward to competing in D1 in the fall and maybe surprising a few teams. It was a great weekend of soccer and yes, this post should be in the 98's.

Wasn't there a Kicks coach/team suspended a few years ago becasue some of his "13 year old" players were of legal drinking age?Dawg wrote:Fabiano9,

Re: 98 boys State Cup - Kicks
Just because the starting 13 yr-old striker used to drive his own car to practice & had a baby seat in the backseat did not mean he was over aged.
But seriously, yeah, he was suspended from the sideline for one yr. I'm sure it's behind him & he learned from it.

The club is based in N. Dallas (Royal/Webb Chapel Area) and the core of the team that has been together since U9 is from that area. The rest are from Duncanville, Ennis, and S. Dallas.

I'll one-up that last post about the Kicks 98 being together since U9. My son's been playing against them since they were U6 at the Chamber; Everytime my boy plays against them, we have a good laugh and talk about the good old days.

Re: 98 boys State Cup - Kicks
My son joined the Kicks when they moved from Chamber to PAL in U9. I was not sure how long they had been together prior to that. It is fun to relive the good o'l days when they were small. They grow up quick. What team did you son play for in Chamber and who does he play with now?Fabiano9 wrote:I'll one-up that last post about the Kicks 98 being together since U9.
