Classic League Week 1 Predictions D1 and D2

FCD Central Premier 3-2 vs Mexico-Love Mexico but don't think they have the horses to compete. FCD only lost a few players to PA and added quality D1 replacements.  FCD should be a top 3 team this year and Mexico close behind.

DALLAS TEXANS South 3-1 vs SPORTING UNITED SC-Lots of changes at Texans but knowing Coach Sal I expect him to be near the top at the end of the season.  Sporting no slouch, just not the experience against the elite.

SOLAR CHELSEA SC RED 3-1 vs AYSES 02B GOLD-Solar probably the most changed of the the D1 teams.  Time will tell if they have rebuilt to compete.  Strong 3-1 victory last week against a very good LP Owen team.  Labor Day tourney may sway this prediction.

FC DALLAS YOUTH 02B PREMIER 1-1 vs ANDROMEDA FC-FCD Pino my pick to be the champion.  Andro will be very good as well and will be in thick of things if they can get their goal production up. Things have been quiet on the Andro front and if they added some of the PA players they will be tough to beat.

LIVERPOOL FC AMERICA Rush 3-1 vs LIVERPOOL FC AMERICA Owen-LP Rush has the most talent of all the D1 team.  On paper they should never lose in D1.  They dont play games on paper and LP Rush will experience some bad losses this season.  Still likely a top 5 finisher but coaching and lack of teamwork will keep this team from reaching their potential.  LP Owen has struggled lately and has had injuries but I expect a decent showing from Coach Jones and the boys this season; just wont be week 1

SOLAR CHELSEA SC vs FC DALLAS CENTRAL- This could be the top 2 teams in D2-Stavrou a proven top coach and FCD Central is big and can score with ease.  Stavrou was able to keep many players from a team that was snakebitten at times last year.  Top 2 finish for Solar and promotion to D1 if they can stay healthy.

FC DALLAS YOUTH 02B RED (GOMEZ) vs.- AZZURRI FC-FCD Red has new faces and lost several key players.  Azzurri plays great possession but lacks goal scoring at this level. FCD 2-0 vs Azzurri

DALLAS TEXANS SC 02B RED vs. SAMBA FUTBOL-this game is a toss up.  Samba 2-1 in a close one PM

LIVERPOOL FC AMERICA vs TX SUNS SC- LP lost most of their talent but dont count them out.  1-1 tie but TX Suns likely the better team

FC DALLAS YOUTH 02B BLUE vs AMERICA DALLAS- FCD Blue replaces ZuaZua in D2.  Not likely to crack the top 7 but talented to upset on occasion.  America 3-2 winners in this match.

Some interesting games this coming Sunday in the first round of the Labor Day Tournament....might give us a good indication for the Classic season...these are of interest to me, given your potential rankings above.

Anyone know where/if Solar Red is playing this weekend? They are not in the Plano Labor Day Tournament?

I guess D3 = chopped liver.

I can't blame GOOOAAALLLL for not attempting predictions on D3. Only 4 of these teams were in D3 last year... I would predict Texans Red South, FC Premier and Wizards as fighting for the top 2 spots. Texans Red South won the Bob Wiseman this past weekend and FC Premier kept it close against LP Rush in the Beat the Heat (lost 2-1).

When you are a high ranked team nationally, ( Solar Red Currently #4 in the Nation on gotsoccer), your coach gets calls and emails to have your team come play in tournaments to help boost the prestige of their field. Not sure if that happened here, but having a high ranking team always helps a tournament.

Plus, for many, the soccer experience is about having fun with teammates, trips and playing teams from other areas.

Stricker got to that #4 national ranking with his old team. We will see if his new team can play up to the level of the old one.

Stricker beat LP Owen 3-1 with his new team. Something his old team never did.

Goooaaalll, always enjoy your predictions, and I think your assessment of the teams is generally insightful. Also think you could have ended your review of LP Rush with "On paper they should never lose in D1."

I've seen no lack of teamwork at games or on the practice field and think the coaching is very, very good.

Will be an interesting season with so many of the powerhouse teams losing players to PA and Rush becoming stronger with some great off-season pick ups.

Liverpool Owen got shutout in two games in the same tournament by 03 Texans West team. They also lost to Mexico in that same tournament. I'm just sayin.

Gotsoccer rankings are a joke. Teams play tournaments with high point values against weak teams. Take any of these high ranking teams to Southern California where there is true competition and I guarantee they will not have the same rankings.

From speaking to a Dad on LP Owens they are missing their top defender (in my opinion) from an injury and they did have another defensive starter out in that tourney. That team will be okay this season.

obligatory annoying 03 parent chiming in that that particular brand of 03s is probably not exactly terrible w.r.t. a PA-diluted 02 world.

We (Dallas Texans Red South) had the pleasure of playing them in a scrimmage week before last. We beat them 2-0, but like I said - it was a scrimmage.

Yes I would have liked to see them in the 02 gold division against the top D1 teams. Castro's team is playing in Southern California this weekend. They are going to be playing some true competition. We will see how their got soccer rankings hold up.

I see the maturity has left this post with Five Hoe's arrival. Actually Im still riding the wave from last weekend's Bob Wiseman's tourney win. Thanks for the immaturity. It was a nice break from the real world the rest of us live in.

Hopefully DT West will have a good tournament and settle up with the Top California teams who will have no excuses since DT West is bringing their best players and the California teams will have all of their best players also.

I am glad they are playing in this tournament and that PLD is still a question mark in the Gold division... (I do think that the Dirty South is planning on making Bracket 3 a place to test your mettle this weekend)
