Classic League D1 Predictions
Anyone have their 2 cents on what the D1 competition will look like this season? I unfortunately have been traveling most of the summer and haven't had time to keep up with "who went where" or "what team added who". Seems LP Rush might still be on top possibly at the end of the season. I'm excited to see what FC Dallas Spiars brings to D1 as well.

Re: Classic League D1 Predictions
I'll be interested to see how America Premier stacks up against the D1 teams. A little concerned about Andromeda from what I have seen competing at D1 level. Looks like LP Rush is going by LP Elite. I think it will be interesting to see how Nipper does with Pino's team. I think I got that right. Should be an interesting season!

Re: Classic League D1 Predictions
Stricker added a lot of good players to his team as well and should be very good again this year. That team is consistently a top 3 team and will be playing Premier League and National League this year so lots of games for those kids.

Forward Thinker. The old Pino team is the old Andromeda team. Nipper just kept a couple of Pino's (4) players. So there isn't much to see. I think America Premier may struggle.

Re: Classic League D1 Predictions
#1. Liverpool eliTe. New player from an old Team signed?
#2. Stricker. They're very good. Nuff' said.
#3. FCD (Thornber). Name change from Andromeda with a few of Pino's top players.
#4. Sporting United. Unless these kids have finally stopped growing, they'll do fine with their physical play.
#5. DT South. The "Dirty" South looked good at the Beat The Heat tournament in Edmond, Ok. Lost on PK's to an impressive Azzuri team.
#6. LP Owen. Lost good players. Gained a VERY GOOD player.
#7. FCD (Spiars). Dominated D2. Will probably give a lot of teams a run for their money. America America had more wins in D2, but had 5 losses and 0 draws. Spiars only had 1 loss.
#8. America Premier. Made it out of D2 with more wins than FCD (Spiars), but had 5 losses.
#9. Andromeda. (?)
#10. Mexico. Bacon saved from relegation, thanks to the rain/forfeit.

#1. Liverpool Elite. New players from FCD Premier. Should be good.
#2. Solar Red Stricker. Added lots of talent to already good team, should be real good.
#3. Sporting. Heard they added a play maker or two, could be top team.
#4. FCD Spiars. Will surprise some teams. good coach and group.
#5. FCD Premier. Basically same team from Andromeda.
#6. Liverpool Owen. Will probably be in top 5. Always tough to beat.
#7.DTS. Will be better than expected.
#8. Mexico.
#9. America    These three in fight for relegation.
#10. Andromeda

Re: Classic League D1 Predictions
From talking with a couple parents I know from the team it looks like they were comprised solely of their new members and the existing players from last season. Â No PA that I heard of and I trust the parents I spoke with. Â They should do better than last season, but only time will tell.forward thinker wrote:I heard that DTS used PA guest players in Edmond?

Re: Classic League D1 Predictions
I honestly think it's going to be impossible to predict this season without some head to head matchups first. Â Too many changes across the board. Â I think it'll be a tough division this year and will have a lot to do with who gels and how they match up. Â No doubt there is plenty of talent abound across many teams.
As far as "Elite", I think LP made a mistake there and is slapping their other teams in the face. Â Head to head, the LP teams almost have an identical record. Â National points/rankings may sound nice. Â But we all know the fact that one can afford to travel all over the country and play in higher point value tournaments contributes greatly to that. Â Heck, one of the top 5 teams nationally out of AZ, loses every time they leave the state. Â It's all about points...not "Eliteness" Â IMHO. Â But I digress....
For the record, I'm not taking anything away from their successes...great team. Â Just disagree with the labeling decision by the club.

It's fun though. Ready for tournament this week. That should give some feedback on where some of these teams are....

Why are you jumping on LP Elite, Sir?
This prediction's just random dads having fun making predictions.
If I had the $$$ to travel my kid to different places and have fun, the hell yeah, I would be all for it.
Those parents are having fun with their kids.
Extra bonus is higher rankings, then again, HELL YEAH!
Renaming his team "Elite" seems like he's confident.
There are teams named "Superior" Aztecas and Irving "Elite".

Re: Classic League D1 Predictions
Because...originally the Liverpool mantra was NOT to name teams that way or promote kids in that manner - due to many reasons (pretentiousness being one of them)....thus the previous player designations for each team. Â Not jumping on anyone...just saying I don't agree with it and that it's obnoxious regardless of what other clubs are doing...Just my opinion.

So how does that affect YOU that LP Elite renamed their team.
I don't notice any LP Elite parents up in arms about it.
They paid to be on the team, but they don't seem too bothered by the name change.
Or are they scared of Coach Fagen?
You're saying that you're "Not jumping on anyone", but you turn right back around and call it obnoxious?
Maybe Fagen will read this and see how badly he has irritated a parent from ANOTHER TEAM with this highly controversial name change.

Last comment.
It was stated by LP that they did not promote kids in this manner. I think it's obnoxious and pretentious that LP went back on their mission statement and allowed it to happen due to pressure from a coach. How does that affect YOU? I am stating an opinion. Period. End of Story. Jumping on someone must mean something completely different to me.
Thread hijack over.

I tried to get our coach to rename us Elite Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Unicorns but he wouldn't go for it, said the sound of it was quite atrocious.
This would be our logo.

I think LP Owen has a great team and shouldn't care what LP Rush re-names themselves. That's going to be a game worth watching.

Yeah.. You're right. I'm probably the only one annoyed with the name. I just don't like seeing clubs saying one thing and doing another. Anyway, at least this year the matchup is scheduled last instead of first. Hoping for the best. And thanks!
