This is great. It sounds like an awesome and unforgettable experience. Congratulations to the boys that were selected the best of the best out of the 2006 FC Dallas players. Best of luck in Spain.

There are a los links at the top of the page to more information, including short blurbs about each team:
"FC Dallas
The United States' sole representative in the tournament, the Texans head into the Iscar Cup LaLiga Promises bidding to demonstrate that North American youth football is a force to be reckoned with."

Re: FC Dallas 06s playing Iscar Cup 2016 in Spain
The boys returned on Easter Sunday. The trip was amazing, and a huge learning experience for all of the boys that attended. During the trip, they had an opportunity to travel as little professionals. The team operated separately from all parents/relatives traveling. They learned little things like how to behave in an airport as a team, board, fly 10hrs, go through customs, etc.
The first stop was Madrid, and the boys stayed in their own hotel rooms in small groups. Coaches/staff separate. These 06 boys had to learn how to adapt on their "own". They learned A LOT about proper nutrition, and this was definitely the hardest part of the trip for many of these boys. They need to learn to eat and sleep better. In Madrid, they had the opportunity to play against two academy teams from Rayo Vallecano Madrid and a Select team from Brazil (Sao Paolo, Palmeiras, and another club.). The training facility at Rayo Vallecano was great, as they have fields for all of their age groups, in line going up hill to the first team field. You basically "climb the steps" to get to the first team. Very cool concept. The second day in Madrid, the boys toured the Santiago Bernebeau, home of Real Madrid. An amazing experience.
Day 3 was tourney day in Iscar, about 2hrs away from Madrid. The boys stayed at a separate hostel for the tourney, away from parents/families. They shared a tour bus with Levante, and then shared the hostel with the likes of Levante, Sao Paolo, Sporting Portugal, Paris St. Germain, and others. Again, the boys had to learn the importance of nutrition and time management. On Day 1 of the tourney, the team played Real Madrid, UD Las Palmas, and CD Iscar. The Real Madrid game was in the small stadium and with full TV production. An amazing site. We tied 1-1. Real Madrid was superior, but we managed to get away with a tie. We lost to Las Palmas 2-0, and then tied Iscar 0-0. We had good moments against Las Palmas (a very good side), but gave up two soft goals in the 2nd half. The only regret of the tourney was against Iscar, as we should have done more. Tired, perhaps. A goal/win, would have sent us through to the championship bracket. Unfortunately, we were left in 3rd place after the first day.
On the second day of the tourney, we started off with a very strong Malaga side. We had two chances early on to put a stamp on the game, but missed both. Nerves! Malaga got one late in the first half, and held onto a 1-0 win. Our second game was against PSG. We scored early on PSG, from a defensive mistake they made. Unfortunately, we conceded a goal to them and ended the game 1-1. A tie would have sounded good, but they actually went to a 3-man PK shootout, and we lost 2-1.
The results didn't go in our favor, but the boys learned a TON. We can and did hang with all of the teams, but you could see the differences. First and second touches a little cleaner, but with a direct purpose and thought to the next process. The speed of play is fast from start to finish. The boys are willing to try, and are not afraid to fail. The coaches encourage this, as well. Tons of skill, but not the flash on the ball. Keep the ball moving. Move off the ball at all times.
If you have an 06/07 kid, I encourage you to Google "Iscar Cup 2016" and find some games and highlights to watch. Very good stuff.
My family all went on this trip, and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Great learning experiences all around. If FCD takes an 07 group to this event next year, I encourage all 07s to try and make that team. It's worth it.
