Regional Camp information
Great job 97 B ODP campers! Start to day not entirely too bad. 15 campers made the regional pool team games tonight. Way to show. Keep pushing forward!!!!!!!

For the untutored, what does that mean?

Re: Regional Camp information
In short, our 97 ODP boys played other state teams today (as they do everyday at camp). Based on their individual play during the state matches, 15 North Texas Boys were chosen to participate in the regional pool games this evening. That is all I have at this time. We are new to this. I just thought it was pretty cool that 15 of our boys were chosen for this evenings regional pool games.

Did you go to Alabama? Are you watching the games? How are the boys looking? Did your bb make the regional pool?

Re: Regional Camp information
We decided to attend the camp after much thought going back and forth. My bb is having fun but I must say that the D1 teams in CL look much stronger than the regional pool did. I would love to see what formula they use to determine who makes this group. I have to question it strongly. I also didn't expect it to be as hot as back home, but it sure feels like over 100.prohibit wrote:Great job 97 B ODP campers! Have to disagree with that, at least with 95s. ODP teams may not be as cohesive as far as teamwork given the limited practice time and games together. But they are stronger front to back and off the bench. It was the humidity, it is a much different heat.

It is dangerously hot and our cool spell didn't help the kids for being ready for the furnace in the South. But they are out there playing soccer and having a good time.

IMO that comparing the NTX 97 ODP or any state 97 ODP team to the Top 97 Classic league D1 teams is probably not an accurate comparison of talent. How many of the Top 97 Classic League D1 team rosters are entirely made up of BB’s born in 1997? I realize there are exceptions to the rule….however it appears to me the vast majority of impact players on all of the top 97 CL D1 teams are born in 96 and not true 97’s for ODP purposes. That is how it’s been on two Classic League 98 teams that my boy has played for. The impact 98 Cl D1 players are actually born in 1997. I’d bet the top D1 teams would look dramatically and lose many key players.

Re: Regional Camp information
Good point Harponit. You could also throw in a player or two with funny looking birth certificates and it would also be a different game.

Re: Regional Camp information
It is interesting how this whole age thing works out - aside from whether the player has a valid birth certificate. From what I am learning many of the players out at ODP come from the 98 CL teams even though it sounds like most of them are older and are actually born in 97. But I think there are PLENTY of talented 97 boys who play D1 CL 97 and are born in 97 that I wish we'd be seeing out at ODP to make it more competitive. There is just a huge difference in all aspects of the game when you are comparing 98 CL teams to 97 CL teams.Harponit wrote:bootit wrote:We decided to attend the camp after much thought going back and forth. Re: Regional Camp information
I know of the CL D1 97 teams/players pretty well and from past ODP experience, there were quite a few D1 players, born in '97, that attended last year's 96 ODP tryouts. I am certain of only 2 (one from our team and another that moved up to D1 from D2 this July) that returned this year as true 97s. I might have overlooked a player, but the point made is true...most Spring 97s playing U14 this coming year, are not participating (for various reasons, I am sure).
