BODP Region III Summer Trials

Wishing the best of luck to all the 00, 01 and 02 players as they head to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, this week for the BODP Region III Summer Trials. Stay safe, have a great time, work hard, and make NTX proud!

Heard that the '02s finished with 1 draw, 2 losses, and a 2-1 win this morning on the last play of the game. Nice way to end the camp.

Thanks for the update. Hope they had a great time! Does anyone know if any of the NTX players made the Region III pool?

I know 2 boys were held over in the 01 group. They only kept 40 this year.

The 03s are out there right now. How political is the selection or do all the kids get a fair looked at?

Soccer27, as you can probably imagine, whether the selection is political/fair usually depends on who you ask. Our experience in past years has been that the players who deserved to get picked usually did, but I have to admit that I'm someone who buys into the idea that the regional/college coaching staff knows what they're talking about and what they're looking for. I could be wrong. In past years when we went, it seems like parents whose "technically brilliant, BFS" player didn't get picked usually blamed the state coach for not "showcasing" their son better, when in fact, the player simply didn't play the kind (or quality) of soccer the regional coaches were looking for, or the player had a bad attitude, and so on. Again, that's just my take. I could be wrong. If you have an 03 that's there now, best of luck to him and all the others!

3 Ntx 01's made the pool. One was injured and was not heldover. Think I heard that the 00 group had more than the 01's.

I heard that 4 NTX 02s made the pool, and 3 were holdovers -- two field players and a GK. Congratulations to all the NTX 00s, 01s and 02s who made the pool (especially the holdovers!), and good luck to the 99s and 03s. Hopefully, their weather is better than it is in NTX this morning!
