Bracket A
DALLAS TEXANS 01B RED
DALLAS TEXANS U15 PA
MEXICO 01
SUPERIOR SC AZTECAS 01
Bracket B
CLUB AMERICA PREMIER 01
FC DALLAS 01 PREMIER
SOLAR CHELSEA 01
SPORTING UNITED 01
Bracket C
FC DALLAS 01 CENTRAL
FC DALLAS 01 RED
NORTH CHANNEL SC TROOPERS SELECT 01 (TXS)
SOLAR CHELSEA 01 PA
Bracket D
DALLAS TEXANS 01 SOUTH
LIVERPOOL 01 BOYS OWEN
OKLAHOMA FC 01 (OK)
SOLAR CHELSEA 01 STRICKER

Bracket A winner; Texans U15 PA
Bracket B; Sporting United is the only team to not only mar FCD Premier's shut-out streak, but they did it twice. They are also the only team to defeat FCD Premier in either CL or the SRPL. Sporting United has found the right formula for defeating FCDP. The winner of their match wins the bracket.
Bracket C; FCD Central is the favorite. Solar PA is capable of knocking them out of the tournament, though. They'll have a gritty battle.
Bracket D; Solar Stricker has already defeated the top ranked team in Oklahoma in September, 2-0. OKFC will play for redemption. But I think Stricker will win.

The Final, prediction, is DT U15 PA vs. one of the two FCD squads.

U16 (01) Dallas Texans Fall Festival Empty Re: U16 (01) Dallas Texans Fall Festival

Post by PG-Boy 11/19/2016, 6:02 pm

As of 6pm, it appears 6th place CL D1 team, Superior Azteca and Texans U15 PA may tie. I don't know the tie-breaker.

FCD Premier 01 cruised through Bracket B with the only Sporting United giving them a scrappy match. FCD only allowed one goal showing a balance game between a stiff defense and a high scoring offense.

Bracket C is full of upsets.
FCD Red (Coach Phil Gomez), a CL D2 team, stunned Solar Chelsea U15 PA, 2-0 last night at Richland College. They topped the victory with a hyperbolic win over FCD Central (Spiars), 3-1!  All they needed to wrap up the group was a tie in their third group match, but Gomez' boys came up short against the STX North Channel Troopers, 0-1. A Troopers win tomorrow against Spiars earns them the group. More likely Spiars wins, creating a six point tie between the two FCD teams. I don't know the tie-breaker.

Bracket D; the group is still up in the air and will likely be decided in the frigid early tomorrow morning match between Stricker's Solar Chelsea Boys and OKFC.

This from the tournament website.

b. If two or more teams are tied in points after their games are completed, the following tiebreaker procedures will be used to determine the team advancing:

a. Goal differential - team with highest goal differential against opponents will advance (maximum of 5 goals for differential).
b. Highest number of goals scored in overall competition.
c. Head to Head game results - winner will advance.
d. Least number of penalty points (caution = 1, send off = 2).
e. Penalty kicks.
f. Tournament Director’s decision.

U16 (01) Dallas Texans Fall Festival Empty Re: U16 (01) Dallas Texans Fall Festival

Post by PG-Boy 11/20/2016, 9:59 pm

Well, FCD Central and OKFC earned the points necessary this morning to qualify for the semifinals. Unfortunately, it may have left them gassed. Dallas Texans U15 PA stomped the Okies, 4-0 in a match that could've been 5, 6 or 7 to zero. It was a bit unfair to play an extra game on the same day against a rested opponent. The same happened to FCD Central. Premier, fresh, was frisky against a tired opponent. They also scored 4.

The mini fields with pint sized goals at High Point kept the scores lower than they could've been. I'm not sure why U16 games are played on such narrow fields.

Russell Creek offered ample space and regulation sized goals. The wide fields were a breath of fresh air. So much space!

FCD  Premier 01, riding a 25 of 26 game, win streak arrived at the Final, very confident. The Texans stood tall and confident, as well. The weather was perfect for a Texas sunset. The 15 mpg wind did favor one side of the field. The wind favored the team playing toward the north. It was more of a psychological advantage. But that was enough to influence each half.

Coach Kevin Smith, formerly of Solar vs. Coach Nipper, formerly of Texans, faced off. They shook hands and went to work.

Texans had the wind at their backs the first half. They came out blazing fast. Scary fast. Incredible was their speed of play, frenetic but organized. They threatened to obliterate FCD in the first ten minutes. But FCDs defense absorbed the blows. Texans were very unlucky to not score quickly.

Clearly, Academy teams play at a different pace than Classic League teams. I was impressed by the Texans' speed.

FCD was very lucky to score first. It was a broken play, everyone stopped running, peering at the referee for a decision. But there was no whistle! FCD casually shot the ball when the referee was either indecisive or perhaps there was nothing to be called. Regardless, FCDs goal instantly deflated the Texans' frenetic pace. The game slowed a bit. It wasn't much of a change, but a bit of levity, regardless. Providing FCD time to breath.

That tiny bit of momentum change led FCD to attack with confidence. A few minutes later, an FCD striker dribbled into box and was demolished by a Texan defender. The referee ran, pointing at the 18 yard spot! FCD Premier, 2, Texans U15 Academy, 0. The goalscorer celebrated by running at Texans' bench, pointing at Coach Kevin Smith. Uh-oh! The Texans roared back to tie the match, 2-2. Perhaps, one does not celebrate by pointing at the opponent's coach?! Thus ended the first half.

Throughout the game, FCD kept substituting players. Throwing in fresh players into the melee. Texans kept their starters in the match, making few changes.

The second half, FCD dominated possession as Texans Academy, incredibly, started to play KICKBALL! Smashing the ball clear of the goal as far as they could kick it. Mixed in with some precise passing. In spite of all the long balls, they took the lead on a beautiful play that started on the left side. Using speed and skill, they worked the ball fast up the left sideline and crossed it on the ground with a powerful pass. The right wing flew into the box to smash the cross into the goal, 3-2 Texans.

It didn't slow down FCD as they kept making runs at the Texans. Earning a lot of corner kicks. Until the FCD central midfielder dribbled through the Texans defense to hit a left-footer to the far post. 3-3. FCD was unlucky to not score more goals in the second half and overtime as they kept attacking the stout Texans defense. Texans did have a few chances, too. But not as many as FCD.

Miraculously, FC Dallas Premier, a Classic League D1 squad playing against the vaunted Texans Pre-Academy team, didn't fold. Both teams scored their first five PKs with confidence. The sixth Texan to step up, sailed his shot over the crossbar. FCD Premier 01 steps up, scores their sixth PK shot to win the Final.

It was the last match at the park. It was virtually empty when the medals and Dallas Cup letter were awarded. A few minutes later, the lights went out.

U16 (01) Dallas Texans Fall Festival Empty Re: U16 (01) Dallas Texans Fall Festival

Nice summary! Thanks for it, an exciting game!

I feel the need to give the back story regarding the player who celebrated a goal by pointing at the opposing teams coach! Many people may read this and there's a little more to the story.

During warm up, before that game, the COACH of the Texans, Kevin Smith, approached that player, calling out to him. The player ignored KS (or didn't know he was being addressed) for awhile, until acknowledging him was unavoidable. Kevin Smith then rudely says to the boy, "hey, why are you wearing those gay ass tights?"
The shocked player responded something like, we will see how gay it is when I score on y'all... (the kid had on those Under Armour things to keep warm under his shorts)

So when he scored, he pointed at that coach as in, remember our little conversation during warm up?
The score was 2-0 at that time and I'm sure that boy thought a win was in the bag. Not a great decision, but he is 15. What's entirely out of line, in my opinion, is an adult - a coach at that - taunting and insulting the other players before a game...

Congrats on the win PG-Boy. Well deserved. Are you sure it was only 25? You have never been shy on showcasing your team's accomplishments. Flip side, your love for The Texans has always been so unconditional.  Very Happy

FYI. This is not Academy. The U15's are PA and while your observation (that speed is different from Classic teams) may be true, the talent level is no different than PA this year. The recent results prove that.

Never heard it called that scratch

Surprised? This has been characteristic of the Texans teams for years (explains their speed too). Come on. You have been criticizing their kickball style for at least 6 years. Flip side, sometimes kickball works. The true academy (DA) teams Texans played FCD teams this past weekend and although no Texans team won in any age group, they put up a fight in every game.

There is some bias on your narrative but generally true. Your underlying message in your different posts is clear, FCD premier was better than the Texans PA team and it's hard to argue that PA talent is any different than Classic's. The other PA team that participated in the tourney didn't do so well either. Eye opener for those considering PA next year.

Congrats again and good luck in San Diego. Will the winning streak come to an end?

Seriously? - Kevin's comment to the player .....confirmed or guessing this was said?  if truly said - should be dealt with accordingly.  There is no viable justification (prev coach / player relationship etc)....unacceptable and ridiculous that a Coach would say that to a player much less on an opposing team.  While I anticipate some may reply to this with "not a big deal", "happens a lot / more than you think" etc etc.....it is still wrong.   Yes, it is seemingly tolerated unfortunately but it's amazing what we tend to "tolerate" these days in general and on / around the pitch.  These are 15/16 yr old young men ................not College / Semi-Pro / Pro Men playing the game.  (not that it's warranted then either)

100% true and confirmed!
Heard by multiple players

I agree, it's pathetic and almost unbelievable...I just don't think there's anyone above him who would even care...wish he would be "dealt with"
