Re: Arlington Labor Day Shootout
Bracket A - Millenium, NYSA Celtic Black (OK), Real GP and Shreveport United
Bracket B - W Tx United, Valencia and Lonestar
Bracket C - Aces, Ft Worth United Blue and Tigres
Brackets B & C play across, meaning the two teams that win these brackets will have to meet a second time in the semis while the winner of Bracket A gets the wildcard. I understand the logic since Millenium is the top seed, so they should get the wildcard. But still, it might have made it more interesting to make the semis pit Bracket A against either B or C. That way the semifinalists get to play against teams that they haven't played yet.
Predictions:
Semis - Millenium vs. Shreveport United (another rematch from the first round)
Aces vs. W Tx United
Finals - Aces over Millenium 3-2 in PKs
Bracket B - W Tx United, Valencia and Lonestar
Bracket C - Aces, Ft Worth United Blue and Tigres

If Millenium plays with last year's roster they will be tough. If they have to play with their double checked, Classic Challenge roster, they may not be as competitive. You never know........

Re: Arlington Labor Day Shootout
Surely no team would knowingly play with illegal players on their roster. That just ain't right.

Re: Arlington Labor Day Shootout
hoff, surely you remember last May the week before Challenge that Millenium had to forfeit in the semi's of a tourney when they did a roster check and andro navy (old manchester) advanced with 3-0 forfeit win (at least that's the way I remember it, can't swear swear)
But I do know at least 1 of their challenge games they were checked before and after
So, yes, I am sure several tournaments throughout the year will have several teams using "illegal" players in ALL age groups
Fact of life with very very little consequences
Me, I figure no biggie since my son will start playing against kids 3 years older than him next year anyway
It only hurts the older kid in the end
I mean if my son dropped down to a 99 how the heck does that benefit him?
He's a 97 that almost signed w/the 96s this year to get ready for high school
I'm done, my one post this month

Re: Arlington Labor Day Shootout
mspan, I found the tournament you are referring to (I think), SoccerFest XI in late May. Millenium did have a 3-0 loss to FWU North Blue, but it appears to have been the first game of the tournament. Millenium went 1-2 (with a 4-0 loss to Irving Elite and a 3-0 win over Barcelona). They did not participate in the semis in that tournament. Was that because they had to forfeit against FWU, or did that game actually take place?
Even with their "double-checked Classic Challenge roster" they were not that far off, dropping 2-1 decisions to both Solar Gold and Monterrey. They will be tough to knock off either way.
