97B D3 Predictions Nov 6 - 7

Final week of the first half. Time to break your parkas out. Cold and clear for the morning games. Good luck to all teams!

Monterrey 1 - DTRS 1 (Game of the week as the top two in the standings clash. I expect this to be a defensive battle. Any mistake by either team will prove costly)
McKU 1 - Barcelona 3
Strikers 3 - Andro Navy 0 (Strikers have found their groove)
FCDS 1 - Andro 2
ALSC 1 - CDI 1 (Should be a good one to watch. Both have a strong defense and the ability to score. I'm leaning slightly towards ALSC, but CDI will be looking for vengeance after falling to Strikers last week and losing two straight)

Andro 1 - ALSC 2 (ALSC defense is just too strong)

Monterrey 1 - DTRS 0 (My pick is purely for selfish reasons. A loss by DTRS and 2 wins for us this weekend, puts us -2 points from DTRS and a fighting chance next season. I agree with RytMid... a mistake will cause the win/loss)
McKU 0 - Barcelona 3
Strikers 3 - Andro Navy 0
FCDS 1 - Andro 3
ALSC 2 - CDI 0 (Hope to continue scoring streak from last weekend)

Andro 0 - ALSC 2 (ALSC defense has only allowed 2 goals all season... all from the first game of the season... hope to continue shutout streak)

Monterrey 1- Dallas Texans 3 (Agree with Rytmid-game of the weekend. Think Texans strong strikers will have success against Monterrey weak defense.)

Barcelona 2- McKu 0

Strikers 2- Andro Navy 0

FCDS 0- Andro 2

ALSC 2- CDI 0 (I think ALSC has started to get confidence in scoring ability. Last week they were missing several of their offensive starters and still found ways to score. Don't think CDI can keep up with the pace that ALSC plays).

Andro 0- ALSC 3 (If ALSC plays well Saturday and maintains confidence, this one could be high scoring event for them.)

Monterrey. 2

Good clean game but I have to say we got outplayed today. Congratulations to both teams for a good Fall season.

Wow, what a weekend. Couldn't have ever guessed the games would have turned out the way they did. I suppose that's why we "play the games".

ALSC 3- CDI 2 (CDI dominated this game. Had lots more opportunities just didn't capitalize. Lightning looked liked they hadn't played in months. Had 8-10 shots on goal and scored 3. Took advantage of their opportunities, just looked really bad)

NTX Strikers 4- Andro Navy 1

ALSC 2- Andromeda 2 (Once again, Lightning didn't show up. Andromeda dominated first half up 1-0. Lightning dominated 2nd half, went up 2-1 then gave up goal with approx 10 min left to finish 2-2. ALSC defense which is usually so strong looked tired, confused. Horrible weekend for ALSC.)

Look forward to spring play in age division. Wish all teams a great winter.

In my opinion, i dont see anyway that amarillo lightning advances to d2. monterrey and texans are far superior to lightning in every aspect of the game. from players front to back and coaching in general, lightning is middle of the pack at best. the one compliment i will give them is that there goalie is the real deal. without him, they wouldnt even be in classic.

I think you are selling Amarillo short in those comments. My son plays for DTRS and from what I saw in our one game at least, was a team that moved the ball well, and one that was going to be very tough to score against with that back line and keeper. I have a feeling they will be on our heels all through the Spring and if our boys let up at all, they could be close enough to pass us.

Hoodster- I stated I thought that ALSC had a bad weekend. In no way did I say or believe that they can't make D2.

In fact, during the Monterrey game they dominated the first
half. If I said Monterrey crossed midfield more than 8 times the first half, then I may be overstating it. Monterrey won the game but Lightning had many more opportunities and cut Monterrey up with their passing game. Any sane person who attended and watched this game would have thought ALSC was the better team, HANDS DOWN.

I happen to know the Lightning Coach personally through mutual friends. What I can tell u is that he has coached and taken 3 teams to Classic League in both boys and the girls divisions. How many has the Monterrey coach taken? In fact, the Lightning Coach probably has more coaching expierence in the Classic leagues than most of the coaches in this division or even D2. Amarillo has a 1/16th of the players that Dallas does, and less than that on the talent level.Yet this coach and this club continually make the Classic Leagues and have success. So you tell me they aren't good coaches? I agree that their goalie is the real deal, but if you watched them then you would also notice their goalie doesn't get shot on very often. Their team plays great offense, and great TEAM defense. Sounds to me like you don't have a clue hoodster.

I think ckclimited3 is spot on. Will be a very interesting Spring season.
