Re: alabama camp
Yes but you are asked to sit in the stands and not to interact with your kid. It is a good experience for the boys, independence, self reliance, learning to pack their own bag and gear for the sessions.... good growing up stuff.

Riding in the plane is preferred.

Watered down, watered downed , watered downed ,, repeat 100 times. Send ur kid to Alabama in the middle of june to sweat his balls off and be $1500 lighter in the wallet if you want . Double it and send him to Gothia . Now thats something he'll remember.

Re: alabama camp
I had heard the ODP coaches were looking for boys that could sprout wings and fly across the field, but I had no idea they were expected to have distance to fly all the way to Alabama, too.
What coach do you recommend for flying lessons?

Yes it is by invitation only. They will chose one team from the pool in the older age groups , sometimes two from the younger, to go. The price last year was $1000. It is a great experience for a player. The heat is no worse than Texas; lower temp, higher humidity. The cost includes everything, including 4 meals a day, but snack money and they travel as a team. The watered down ODP program still produces over 70% of national camp invitees.

Yes. There is alot of down time for parents. They play a game in the AM, have film or tactical classroom session in the afternoon and training or pool games in the evening. The evening training is not too rigorous. It seems light until later in the camp when everyone has played 5 to 8 games in 4 days. The matches are great to watch though. Very fast paced, no kickball at all. Communication with the team consists of a few texts when you can reach your bb and maybe a quick chat after a game walking with them to the shuttles. Parents are not allowed in the dorms or to take players with them anywhere. If you like to coach or ref from the sidelines then stay home because it is not done or tolerated. Very laid back and enjoyable.

Well, it is the US ODP camp.
I'm sure if you took your son to your countries ODP Camp you shouldn't have any problems. Don't point out that you may be doing something illegal, post it, and expect a bunch of sympathy. If your are not here under the most honest of circumstances, appreciate that you are giving your child a better future and stop bitchin!

And this is the ODP forum, Olympic Development Program, not the Over & Done Politics forum.

Re: alabama camp
So the politically correct question should have been, "Is your kid a citizen? Because he can't play for our Olympic team without it." ??????????
