Southlake graduated its' top scorer. Will be interesting to see what they have this year in terms of attack. Jesuit rebuilt some of its' offense last year. FM Marcus is always a threat, as is Plano. What about McKinney Boyd this year? They have a group of seniors, right? Coppell has a new coach. Duncanville may be a surprise this year.

Every High School on CH1's list will be losing two to three starters due to Academy. I know Marcus is losing four. My BB is one of them.

Duncanville should be pretty good. BB plays in their district so I hope not too good. Some of their non select kids are very good and will surprise people.

Here are the ESPN RISE National Rankings Pre-Season. Nice to see my BB's team at #15. We have 8 AYSES Soccer Club players on varsity.

2011-2012 POWERADE FAB 50 Boys' Soccer Winter Rankings: Week 1

RK (LW)

SCHOOL (CITY, STATE)

REC

COMMENT

1 (3)

Strake Jesuit College Prep
Houston, TX

0-0

Strake Jesuit starts regular-season play in January.

2 (5)

Boca Raton Community
Boca Raton, FL

7-0

Boca Raton is averaging slightly more than five goals per match this season.

3 (17)

Cypress Bay
Weston, FL

7-0

Florida's defending large-school state champ is riding a four-match shutout streak.

4 (Cool

Carroll
Southlake, TX

0-0

Carroll, the defending Texas 5A champion, starts regular-season play in January.

5 (1)

Montverde Academy
Montverde, FL

9-0-2

A pair of ties with Top 25-ranked American Heritage-Plantation and American Heritage-Delray costs Montverde its No. 1 ranking for now.

6 (10)

Millikan
Long Beach, CA

3-0

Millikan's early season win over Loyola, which reached the final of this week's Aliso President's Cup, is an indication that this Long Beach school may be a serious contender this season.

7 (11)

Ronald Reagan
San Antonio, TX

0-0

Reagan starts regular-season play in January.

8 (13)

Bellarmine College Prep
San Jose, CA

0-0

Bellarmine opened regular-season play Monday against Pioneer.

9 (30)

Servite
Anaheim, CA

4-0-1

Although Servite tied tournament host Aliso Niguel in group play, the team advanced in the championship fight where it was scheduled to face JSerra for the title on Monday.

10 (NR)

JSerra Catholic
San Juan Capistrano, CA

4-0

JSerra, despite the graduation of several key players, responded with a strong showing at the Aliso Cup, beating former POWERADE FAB 50-ranked Santa Ana Valley and currently ranked Edison.

11 (NR)

American Heritage
Plantation, FL

5-0-1

American Heritage's lone blemish is a draw with No. 5 Montverde Academy.

12 (4)

American Heritage-Boca-Delray
Delray Beach, FL

3-0-2

American Heritage's draw with Montverde was a quality result, but a tie with an unranked team caused the squad to drop in this week's POWERADE FAB 50.

13 (7)

La Habra
La Habra, CA

1-0-1

An early tie bumps La Habra from the Top 10, but this preseason No. 1 team in the Orange County Register figures to be a national factor this season.

14 (14)

McNeil
Austin, TX

0-0

McNeil starts regular-season play in January.

15 (15)

Boyd
McKinney, TX

0-0

Boyd starts regular-season play in January.

16 (26)

Chaparral
Scottsdale, AZ

3-0

Chaparral rallied for a 2-1 victory over No. 19 Brophy Prep last week in a match that it was minutes away from losing 1-0 in regulation.

17 (18)

Salpointe Catholic
Tucson, AZ

6-0-1

Salpointe is off to an undefeated start, which includes winning the Salpointe-Brandon Bean Tournament.

18 (21)

Hebron
Carrollton, TX

0-0

Hebron starts regular-season play in January.

19 (2)

Brophy Prep School
Phoenix, AZ

1-1

Brophy suffered a 2-1 overtime setback to No. 16 Chaparral last week.

20 (22)

Allen
Allen, TX

0-0

Allen starts regular-season play in January.

21 (23)

Wakeland
Frisco, TX

0-0

Wakeland starts regular-season play in January.

22 (31)

Edison
Huntington Beach, CA

3-1

Edison defeated former POWERADE FAB 50 Top 10-ranked Capistrano Valley in group play at the Aliso Cup, then settled on a tournament semifinal exit after losing to JSerra.

23 (29)

Century
Santa Ana, CA

2-0

Century opened the season with a 5-1 win over Woodbridge, but a match this week against Mater Dei will be a test to the team's ranking.

24 (25)

Cate
Carpinteria, CA

1-0

Ema Boateng scored twice as Cate opened its season with a 3-0 victory over Santa Maria.

Post by finish1 12/9/2011, 8:01 am

Interesting to see Hebron ranked that high nationally. What's the scoop over there? Southlake is a traditional powerhouse. SN, I agree with your emoticon. On the 4A side, Frisco Wakeland should have a good run this year. What about Argyle? Is their top player a HS junior this year?

Of course, if the HS teams lost a good junk of their talent to Academy, then NTX HS is totally up for grabs...

Argyle boy is a sophomore and likely to play HS soccer because he gave up Academy to play football. The football team plays in the semi's tonight - he has been tearing teams up so far. Good Luck tonight, Eagles!

Argyle is 4A. Went all the way to the Semi's last year and was knocked out by Riverside, who won the State 4A Championship. Frisco Wakeland also had a strong season and just missed the Quarterfinals. Hope to see both teams in top form again this year. Anyone know about 4A RL Turner this year?

I'm pretty sure Argyle is 3A. They kicked our tail in a 3A tournament. Good team. Nice Coach. They wanted to ease up and my Captain and I said no, keep on playing. It was a long game. Embarassed

I believe you are incorrect. Argyle's football team is playing in the 3A division 2 championship game this Friday at Cowboy stadium. I don't think the UIL would allow a school to compete in different classifications and there won't be a realignment until this coming year.

I am not certain, but I believe there is a reason for the confusion. Argyle football is 3A (and they play tomorrow for the State Championship), but I do believe they play 4A for soccer. I have no idea why - maybe not enough 3A soccer programs in the area???
