It's great to see McKinney at the top of your list but, we are a 5A school this year (by 21 students)and are in the same district as the Plano schools, Allen and McK Boyd. Might be a long year....

That's good for McKinney Boyd. At least 1 game they will win.speed_kills wrote:It's great to see McKinney at the top of your list but, we are a 5A school this year (by 21 students)and are in the same district as the Plano schools, Allen and McK Boyd. Might be a long year....

Re: HS Warm-Up
Several of the teams mentioned in this thread played in a tourney last weekend (Richland). I was not successful finding the results.
1) Can anyone provide a link?
2) Any comments to share, if you saw any games?

Southlake and Boyd advanced, I think Southlake won a shootout against Boyd, but not for sure? Also, I believe the final was cancelled(?)

Re: HS Warm-Up
Southlake vs Boyd was 0-0 and went to shootout. Southlake won and should have advanced. However UIL will not let any team play more than 2 games in one day, which Southlake had. They should have played a team out of El Paso but because they won the shootout against Boyd could not do so.
So it was:
1.El Paso
2.Southlake
3.Boyd
So it was:
1.El Paso
2.Southlake
3.Boyd

Re: HS Warm-Up
Agreed that Duncanville has a nice record, but I've not seen them play & I’m not sure they can beat any of the 10 listed. As for TJ, sure they also haven’t lost, but then again, they haven’t played any top teams either.

Is Rockwall-Heath still 4A? We played against them in 5A American football.

Re: HS Warm-Up
good call, Rockwall Heath is in the Mesquite ISD group! They would not crack the top 10 in 5A. Any thoughts on the final 4A team?

Re: HS Warm-Up
Coppell should do well this year as we have a lot of JR and SRs on the team. We let the season get away last year on the back stretch. If the boys stay focused all year and not get caught up in their W/L record, we should make a good run at the playoffs. We also have a very good group of kids at the freshman level and another good crop enteriing 9th grade next year that have played together since elementary school. We should remain highly competitive for several more years....
Varsity had a good win over Boyd last week on the road, and play Plano tomorrow night for our home opener. Next weekend is a grudge match vs Hebron, who knocked us out of the 1st round in last year's playoffs...
Agreed the Duncanville will be competitive this year and deserve to be in the top 10. Nuno has a good group of players and will have them ready.

Re: HS Warm-Up
Coppell:
I was very impressed with Coppell last year / was the best team I saw last year. I do not know what % are returning / how to rank them, yet, but will not be surprised at all by a lot of success from them.
Hebron:
There is a very strong MF player that played for them last year but has gone Academy this year. His departure, along with the grudge factor, make me predict a Coppell win.
D-ville:
I don't know too many of the HS coaches, but it seems like D-ville has one of the best around. I am close with several of the players on the team this year; think those players are good. I don't know about the rest of the roster so am still a little skeptical / not convinced by who they have played, so far.

Re: HS Warm-Up
Duncanville has had some of the best individual talent in their district. Their lack of team play and discipline has kept them from the playoffs for the past couple of years. Hopefully for them they can change this. Also their pre-season schedule is usually not very strong. Even in their own tournament they schedule themselves the weaker teams.

well that has to because of a "lack of overall talent" and not the coach!94/00 wrote:Duncanville has had some of the best individual talent in their district. Saw them play last week actually and that team has alot of fight in them . They went down to 9 players because they had a bogus ref and still managed to fight that Richland team to a draw. Those kids have a lot of fight in them and I know they get that from their coach.

Heh, heh…..well 7-5A is not exactly a soccer powerhouse…..so if they have struggled to make the playoffs & play a weak pre-district schedule, then why should anyone believe they are a top 5A team?

The Region 1 team at State last year was Mansfield. They are in that district. I believe their district is the same this year.
