CL has no choice BUT to enforce the league rules. If they don't they lose all their credibility.

After all, with DA/PA in the picture, they are no longer the 'only' game in town.

CL participation is by invitation and as such the league may choose to not invite the teams at its discretion.

So GoWide, was the team that you are referring to listed as disqualified?

the sad thing is that some of the coaches/players(and parents) will just re-surface elsehwere under another name and jersey.

a situation occurred with a team playing in the challenge tourney only had rostered 10 players the whole year. it wasn;t until thier final game of the challenge weekend that it was caught. really ?

11th player runs up to play --they check the roster and their are only 10 players on it. They played a previous game with 11 because i watched it. they let the player play anyway. (didn;t matter didn;t qualify)

peace out

Yes the team I was referring to was dis-qualified. But what I do not get is that when Classic was made aware of the issue with the illegal players, they told the coach that they would allow the game to go on and deal with it in the end. Am I wrong in thinking that the team should have just had to forfeit that one game and then come back to the next game with the correct roster and still have the opportunity to challenge. They could have won their next two games and still made it to the final round. As it was the game then became a grude fest since they had been caught and players ended up with Red cards because of it. I agree with teaching a lesson but I wonder on the extent of the lesson????? Am I wrong I just can't decide??????

IMHO they should have done the roster checks before the game and if any team is caught cheating they are disqualified from the tournament and forfeit all their games - those already played and those scheduled to be played. Come back next year with a clean roster and try again.

Sounds reasonable, but I think CL did not have a rules-based rationale to declare a forfeit. If the ineligible players were used in the game, the A&D committee could have declared a forfeit.

I suggest that CL ultimately resolved the issue by deciding to not invite the team into the league per its discretion.

The problem with what GW and Ed want is that referees do not have the authority to declare a forfeit. They can list a match as DNP but there is nothing in the rules of the games authorizing them to not allow a match to proceed because of roster issues. They allow only properly rostered players to play and report any irregularities on the game report. Even if a field marshall or board member is present no organization gives any one official the power to declare forfiets at the field.
EOB, why is it sad that the players and parents would surface elsewhere? I really doubt ten year olds have read the CL or NTSSA rules and bylaws. Most parents are absolutely clueless of rules as well. The coach and manager have a responsibility to know the rules. They should be held accountable not a bunch of clueless kids and their uninformed parents.
Kudo to CL for the enforcement and DQs.

Didn't look at this thread for a couple of days, but just wanted to say "Good Show!" to the Classic League for following through on some disqualifications.

Thanks my2cents that explains a lot but it is still bad for the kids on the other team. Being the parent of a child that has fought to get out of Plano /Arlington I know how hard the kids work! I am sure at the age of these kids (or I hope) that they understand what their Coach/Manager did to them and how little faith that they had in them as players to be able to do what needed to be done. You would hope that a coach having little faith in you would prompt you to find a coach that believes in his own ability to coach you and your team thru it. I guess life lesson's are being learned on the soccer field. SAD!
