PLD '97s - Page 2 Empty Great final - expect many more Solar Red - FCD Blue finals

Post by ticoz 9/7/2012, 10:06 pm

Congratulations to Solar Chelsea Red - it was a great final game against FDC Blue

Solar dominated first 20-25 minutes of the game, but FCDB took control of the rest of the game after Solar scored their first goal. Solar was very clinical in their finishing as they scored in much fewer shots and chances on goal. FDCB had dozens of shots on goal and many opportunities, but could not take advantage of them.

Tons of quality on both teams, I fully anticipate that these teams will reach the final stages of most '97 boys tournaments this year. It will be fun to watch!

" dozens of shots on goal" ?!??
weird.. I watched the the game also and had a completely different take.. Shocked

FCDB had chances in first 20-25 minutes, but not much for the rest of the 1st half - down 0-1 at halftime.
After bringing 4 fresh players in to start the 2nd half, FCDB tried to get back in it, but seemed to give up after making no real headway..They looked tired and seemed to just go through the motions for the last 30-35 minutes of the game even before giving up the 2nd goal.

Now I understand how event/crime/accident witnesses can give such different recounting of the same event... confused

Definitely agree with your conclusion about these 2 being among the 3-4 top contenders for D1 the crown...

MY 2 CENTS.. cuzz I agree and disagree with both of you.

Fc came out flat and tired in the first 10 but seemed to find their footing . the first goal was a well placed ball behind a defender that was caught pinching up on a previous run. Solar seemed to control the pace with fcd being more affective on the quick counters . Possession was in Solars favor, with fcd winning any mistake they had . The second goal was pure "Pu$$I" as the solar player fit a square peg into a round hole . Fc had at least 4 quality chances either hitting the post or being on the losing end of a scrum in front of the goal. The Solar keeper came up big in those situations . If Both teams play 10 games it could easily be a 50/ 50 outcome ..
