97PPL Predictions - 11/14

Hoff - I have been waiting for your predictions all week as there is a full slate of 8:00 am games on hand. Since we haven't heard from you yet, I guess I will go ahead and give it a shot. Look forward to your predictions as well.

FWU Blue 2 - ASG 1 - Game of the Day #2? This is a matchup of last year's number 1 (ASG) and number 3 (FWU) teams. ASG won both games last year but is struggling this year. Slight edge to FWU.

Nationals FC 0 - Texas Xtreme 4 - Xtreme has a good defense and will put a few goals in.

Solar Silver 0 - Monterrey 4 - Monterray should dominate this game from start to finish.

TFC White 2 - Nationals 1 - Expect TFC to be hungry for a win this weekend. Still wondering if the Nationals signing up for the Dallas Texans tournament next weekend was a good idea. It is loaded with Classic D1 and D2 teams that will make it a long weekend for our friends on the Nationals.

TLSC 0 - Solar Gold 2 - Game of the Day #1? Solar Gold is headed for a end of year showdown with Monterrey. While the Longhorns will put up a good fight, Solar will be a little too strong for them.

Aces 3 - Blaze 2 - Should be a good matchup between the 4th and 5th place teams in D2. While they both have scored a similar amount of goals during the year, the Aces defense is pretty stingy.

Boca Jrs. 5 - Texas Blitz 0 - This should be an easy match for Boca against a winless Blitz team.

FC Dallas White 3 - Mckinney 2 - While they have almost identical records, FCD should prevail as they have a slightly better defense.

Inferno 0 - FWU White 4 - The brutal year continues for Inferno.

Tigres 8 - Celtic United 0 - This will be the ugliest game of the day. Could get way out of hand by halftime.

Sorry so late...it's been a rough week.

FWU 3-1. I give ya'll a little more credit than you do...it's importnat to stay humble when picking your own game, believe me I know.

Solar 1-0 TLSC has a tendancy to play one-goal games.
Aces 2-1 VERY important game for both teams. The winner will have the inside track for second place in the Fall.
Boca Jrs 6-1
McKinney in a slight upset 1-0...still waiting for the McKinney who tied Aces 1-1 to show up again.
FWU White 3-0
Tiggers 6-0, they'll be playing four corners for most of the game (if the coach has a heart)

Congrats on the ties to TLSC and ASG, those were tough opponents.

I heard FC Dallas and McKinney tied, not sure if it was 1-1 or 2-2.

I think Boca Jrs beat Texas Blitz 2-1, although the game was tied in the middle of the second half.

Aces are now in control of their own destiny to finish in second place in Group 2. Wins against FWU N White and Boca Jrs on December 1 & 2 will clinch runner-up to the Tigers.

The game was in doubt through the first 20 minutes as the Aces keeper made a point-blank reaction save and held on to prevent any rebound shots on a Blaze breakaway. That seemed to turn the tide and wake up the Aces, as they scored twice in the last 7 minutes of the half to take control. The Blaze are a very good team, strong across the back line and some speedy forwards, but once the first goal was scored they were no match for Aces. The Aces D clamped down and allowed no scoring chances the rest of the way.

While on paper this looked like a good opportunity for a win for FWU, I must say that ASG came out firing on all cylinders. They absolutely dominated during the first half and must have had 10 shots on goal to only a couple for FWU. If a couple of ASG's forwards had not kicked it directly to the keeper 3 or 4 times, the score could have been much different. ASG lead 1-0 at half.

The second half belonged more to FWU and they were able to wake up from their slumber and start to exert good pressure on ASG. They had more shots on goal in 2nd half, but probably not as dominant as ASG was in 1st half.

Overall, ASG came to play and really could have easily taken this one.

Soccermom - Any commentary on the TLSC-Solar Gold game. Looked like another good game.

Biggest surprise this morning was Monterrey was leading only 1-0 at half. Curious as to the final on that one.

Also heard FWU White won 5-0.

According to SoccerDad97B (haha), we dominated the majority of the game but their defense is very strong and we were unable to get any good looks at the goal. Solar had some good opportunities off of some fouls but couldn't finish. Luckily, we made the most of one of our very few shots on goal and came away with the tie. The officiating was much better than we got out of the linebacker we had last week at center.

McKinney and FCD tied 2-2
Ref missed 2 clear penalties in the second half , over all noticed FCD uses thier hands every chance they get, one of the penalties was clearly both hands bieng used to push the foward off the ball. 2 Yellow cards were given FCD for too many players on the fieldthe other McKinney player got tired of no calls and got overly agressive although it was deserved I feel if the ref had made calls early it would not have gotten to that point.

Yoda, keep in mind that just because the ball hits a players
hand does not mean it is a penalty. If the Ref feels there was not intentional
movement of the hand towards the ball and it did not change the flow of the
game the rules state it should not be called.

Not saying they used thier hands to handle the ball they used both hands to push the player off of the ball.
