The cheaters strike again...this time the team was the Dallas Tigres. We were about 10 minutes into the first half and then miraculously a new goalie comes running on the pitch from another game. Albeit it was a 06 tourney but they would allow 05's on the pitch. No problem that was the rules. The issue was the player at hand came from the o4 team. We notified the tournament director and she handled it both perfectly and professionally. She approached the other coach with the matter and he didn't even argue...just said yeaa i have three that are over age. His next comment was i just won't play them the rest of the game...they shouldn't have been in the game in the first place.

I'm so tired of the lack of ethics from these coaches. I'll play naive and understand the kids do not know. Our boys play and practice hard trying to improve week over week to be the best they can be. We have played now some of the best teams in the area and have done very respectable when playing against fellow 06's. Losing is just as good a live lesson as winning as long as it is on a consistent and competitive balance. Please let the madness stop

been around soccer since i played in the 80's and it was the bulls*** then that still exists. Hope everybody played well.

FYI FC DALLAS RIOJAS went 3-0 outscored opponents 19-3 with one clean sheet

I do not know what the solution is, but I just expect it every game we play. I just figure teams are going to cheat and with no way to prove it, we are just going to have to deal with it. I am glad to hear your complaints were heard.

Did the tourney director forfeit all games for the Tigres? That may/may not make a difference for those parents that are losing the money from the coach playing illegal players...but it certainly would make the other teams more likely to want to play that tourney again!

The director did DQ them...

Congrats to FC Dallas 06 Riojas, your kids played very well!

I don't get why a parent would want to be involved with a program that places winning over sportsmanship and development of younger players (who sit on the bench while an older player plays). But I'm sure there are pressures (and perhaps a lack of options) that play a role in the decisions some parents and coaches make.

It's still not cceptable, but I'm going to try to take a longer term view on the issue. We can't do much about it. And playing the bigger kids teaches toughness, ball control and passing. Most of the true 06 teams (FCD, Solar and LP) managed to hang with the Guameru giants in PrimeTime. And a year from now, when the passing has improved, I bet the gap closes that much more - even with the over-age players.

I'm not condoning the behavior, but I'm going to TRY not to dwell on it either. But I'm sure all this perspective will go out the window the next time we play Guameru. Very Happy

There was another similar situation in the 99s. The tournament director handled that situation swiftly and professionally. I can see us returning to U90 events until the boys age out.

We had a similar situation in the 02s. Tournament Director handled it very professionally, unfortunately the other team had a forged birth certificate so they were allowed to continue to play (an 01 player playing for the 02 team was recognized by a former coach who has a copy of his bc, the year was different on his than what they showed U90 unfortunately the coach didn't have the bc with him because the kid doesn't play for him anymore).

Did anybody notice that the ref crew are getting younger and younger? We had a game where we played up against 01s and the refs couldn't have been any older than 14. One of them looked 12 and scared out of his mind.

Are the tournaments trying to save money or are we really short on experienced refs?

I can't rationalize playing for a coach that I don't trust. You know he's a cheater? Well what about the cheating and scheming and lying that you DON'T know about.

Do you know what happens to enablers? They eventually become victims.

Well at least we can give credit to the tourney director to step up and enforce the rules!!! Unlike "primetime" just turns away and pretends nothing is going on!!! I guess we now which tournaments to play next year!!!

And yes i know it's just a game!! but young ref's are really not helping!!!!! spend the $$$ affraid
