97 PPL Predictions 11/15
Blaze (5-3) vs. Valencia (6-2-1) - Valencia had an off day on Saturday and catch a Blaze team who is sure to be reeling from their 4-0 loss to Aces. Having played both teams now, I have to give the edge to the defense of Valencia. They won't shut out the Blaze, but they will keep them in check. Blaze had a very tough draw this weekend catching two of the top three teams. Valencia 2-1.
McKinney FC (4-4-2) vs. FWU N White (4-5) - Should be a very even and spirited battle. McKinney scores more goals on average but also gives up quite a few more goals than FWU. I'll take McKinney 3-2, to climb above .500 in their last game of the Fall.

McKinney FC 1
FWU N white 3
I guess I should not have complained about the ref yesterday as this one was worse. Game was really even McKinney controlled the ball most of the game. Mckinney player uses his shoulder to play the ball ref calls hand ball and awards a pk. Later a clear hand ball was the cause of the pk call which the McKinney keeper blocked but the ref said that a McKinney player stepped over the line before it was taken and had the player retake the kick which he scored. All in all great game. Looking foward to next season

Hate to spoil your opinion of the refereeing today, but if what you described was accurate then the CR was spot on with his calls. It is not legal to play the ball with your shoulder as that is part of your arm. That PK was warranted. It is also not legal to enter the penalty area before a PK is taken. If a player entered prior to the kick then the rekick was also correctly awarded. Sounds to me like yesterday's game was more poorly officiated.

Re: 97 PPL Predictions 11/15
I accepted the first one but the second one the player did not step in until after the ball was played for that matter nobody did, also to give you a further indication one of their players goes down he waits to stop the play by this time there is ( according to my watch 1 min 30 seconds left in the game) he asked the coaches to carry their player off the field to which one of the coaches replies they are trying to asses his injury to which he repeats again they needed to carry the player off so that the game can continue.
As far as yeaterday's game yes those calls were missed but we actually had to come back to tie, we scored an own goal in the first half and they scored early in the second and then we came back to score 2 goals.
Both games were good match ups and hope this type of play continues this next weekend in the tournament. Looking to make a strong run next season.

I'm not sure what your point is about the injury with 1:30 left. If the CR determines the other team is intentionally stalling then he'll add time to the end of the game. If the player was truly hurt, then they should be given enough time to assess his injury regardless of how much time is left in the game.
If there was no player stepping in prior to the PK, then it was clearly bad judgement on behalf of the CR. But the final score still would have been 2-1, so it did not affect the final outcome of the game.

Re: 97 PPL Predictions 11/15
The handling call depends on which part of the shoulder was used. If it was the top of the shoulder, it was a bad call. If it was the side of the shoulder it was a good call. See 12.11 from the USSF "Advice to Referees" memo - http://www.ussoccer.com/Referees/~/media/A9EA28E0905740B6AD0BA18ABBBD8C24.ashxhoff1032 wrote:yoda wrote:McKinney FC 1

That is my point it was about the collor bone region that he used to control the ball with. But what is done is done.

Re: 97 PPL Predictions 11/15
As far as Saturday's game it was actually an own goal for FCD and a goal by McKinney. The FCD keeper would have been able to handle the first goal had it not deflected off the head of his own player (just as McKinney keeper would have probably been able to handle the ball had his player not headed the ball). All in all a good game by both teams.yoda wrote:I accepted the first one but the second one the player did not step in until after the ball was played for that matter nobody did, also to give you a further indication one of their players goes down he waits to stop the play by this time there is ( according to my watch 1 min 30 seconds left in the game) he asked the coaches to carry their player off the field to which one of the coaches replies they are trying to asses his injury to which he repeats again they needed to carry the player off so that the game can continue.
