Re: Challenge Tournament Round 2
whoa !! -- Should be some spirited games. It's going to be very tough for TX Long and Tx Xtreme.
Predict Andro (Williams) and Toros to advance.
Good Luck to ALL teams and prayers for good conditions and no injuries.

Re: Challenge Tournament Round 2
I don't really understand the scheduling for the second round. Looking at the 98 schedule, there are 2 brackets with three teams each. Each team plays the two teams in its own bracket and then 1 team from the other bracket. That means that some teams will play the top seed from the other bracket, while others will only play the lowest seed. That seems unfair, as opposed to just playing a straight round robin with all the teams or just playing the two teams in your own bracket. For example, Oak Cliff ends up playing both CL teams (Andro and Toros), but other teams don't.

Fair? No.
Seeded to where to higher rated teams play lower rated teams? Yes.
A round robin would certainly be the most fair, but the lower seeded teams would be playing Andro and Toros anyhow.

Re: Challenge Tournament Round 2
Well, both Toros and Andromeda take care of business and Andro got the assist it needed from Xtreme. So both Toros & Andro dodge the bullets and requalify. In the end, only two teams are relegated out of D3, although not the two that were expected based on the league standings. Not clear that all this has made D3 stronger, at best it is probably a wash.

Well, Xtreme got hosed by the brackets. They outplayed Andro in the tie. Then they won 3-0 against Oak Cliff, a team that beat Andro 5-2. So for play within the bracket, any objective person would say Xtreme outplayed Andro.
Xtreme's misfortune of drawing Gunners versus Longhorns was the difference.
So yes, Andro took care of business, as you suggest. And the tournament schedulers certainly helped to make that happen.

Re: Challenge Tournament Round 2
well Andro and Toros received favorable draws based on their D3 finish this year. As did the rest of the D3 teams and those that finished tops in Plano/Arlington. Actually Andro could argue they got a raw bracket. Apparently when they seeded the Tourney Santo's was not in 1st place due to a delayed game being posted in Plano. Tx Xtreme was seeded higher (maybe deserved ??). I think the top 2-3 places in plano were seperated by 1-2 points. Xtreme had the same opportunity that Andro had to win their bracket the 1st weekend. It is a tough deal for those teams that are 1 goal away over a long weekend. Now everyone needs to secure rosters and "enjoy" the month of June. What A Joke wrote:Freeatlast wrote:Well, both Toros and Andromeda take care of business and Andro got the assist it needed from Xtreme.
