College Showcase Tournaments Empty College Showcase Tournaments

Post by sanchemv 7/9/2013, 12:28 pm

We are trying to plan out for the year and would like to know if there is a website or websites that are helpful to find some of the top College Showcase tournaments coming up in 2013/2014 season.

There is a ton of useful college recruiting information on the 94 age group link below:

94 Class In College Soccer Updates - Page 4

The key to picking college showcase tournaments is to go to where the college coaches your players are targeting that have a history of attending that showcase event.  You can usually see a record of "college coaches attending" from past year showcase on college showcase websites.  College coaches usually widely attend the elite college showcases which are selective in many cases.  There are others that are less selective and more open to teams that are not ranked in top 100 of Gotsoccer.com rankings.

Selective Showcases include Adidas in Ohio, Disney Showcase, Dallas Cup, Surf Cup and a few others.  There are many others in each of the NYSA regions that are less selective that have good college coach attendance.  The best showcases locally in NYSA Region III are FC Dallas Showcase, Texas Blue Chip Showcase (Houston), CASL Showcase (Raleigh, NC), Disney Showcase (Orlando, FL), and Dallas Cup (Dallas).  Be careful to not waste your money at college showcase events that do not have published evidence of significant and meaningful college coach attendance.  We went to a view showcases including local ones that we saw few college coaches at our game and we were a top ranked team in the region and nation. I would also not attend college showcase events to after Sophomore year in High School. Except for a few very special players usually on national team or UUSF DA academy teams, college coaches wait to find talent until Junior and Senior years. College coaches can talk to players after their Junior year. There are other good ways to get seen by college coaches like their summer college prep camps but the coach is usually going to want to see your player play before they make a decision to offer them a position on their team.

Thanks for the info and I agree with you that we need to be smart on which showcase we do to not waste time and money. This is a 97 team which they will all be Juniors this year so we would like to do a few Showcases.

I will definitely look at the link provided.

Thanks
