The new academy season is about to begin. They added 22 new clubs (for a total of 88) but none from here. Very strange and I bet Liverpool feels a bit cheated :

Ah the joy of politics !

There is not enough Academy level talent or players/families willing to commit to justify adding another NTX team.

The 22 were added because not every existing academy program has a team entered in the under-13/14 program. It helps reduce the driving time, too.

For example, I don't see any of the Colorado teams. Perhaps NTX and STX (combined) could've added three teams to the U13/14 to make-up for the missing Colorado squads.

In this scenario Liverpool would've deserved a U13/14 team. What other local club or two would you think could support a U13/14 DA team?

Perhaps FWFC so the western end of the metroplex is covered. Maybe a team from south Dallas County so that part of town isn't neglected. It would be kind of cool if three smaller independent teams joined forces for a U13/14 squad, say theoretically Wizards, Sporting United and Lightning.

If SoCal can get 22, then 3 for NTX wouldn't be a bad thing.

You have to have talent to play Academy? I thought you just needed to know the right coaches and be willing to transfer the college savings fund to them!drunken

Until other clubs in the area get national championships and are consistently winning in D1, they will not become a part of the USSF academy. (Unless say, Dallas Rush/Liverpool purchases Andromeda or Solar). Just how it is. They care about reputation and are not going to bring in small independent teams that could fold in the next few years. They want established clubs that can compete every year and can cover many of the fees that the Academy players get waived.

Or at least clubs that can go bankrupt, and then restructure, to take care of those costs!

That would definitely be the case if they start adding more Academy teams in NTX.
