Re: Classic league and Academy : Is it a different soccer ?
I don't know Finish. Personally, I see a different soccer. It may be that those PA teams have a bit more consistent roster. There is no denying that CL teams still have a lot of talent, and the best player in a given age group may still be playing in CL. But, it seems to me that these players are a bit isolated. The 4 or 5 very good players in a CL team can't play the skilled/passing/technical game because the rest of the players have difficulties either reading the game, or executing that style due to technical limitation or worst, because the player doesn't want to do it because daddy and mommy are still telling him to take it all the way. Then when the coach faces that it is hard not to go back to a more direct style of soccer that will allow him to win games, stay in D1 and recruit for next year.finish1 wrote:Been there, not impressed with the experience and left (more of same, more $$). My choice. More practices, Yes. Better quality, No.
What's missing is oversight from US Soccer. There needs to be a clear vision for the direction of the program and someone to follow-up on a national, regional and local basis to make sure the processes are being implemented.
That is not happening and if it doesn't, in the long run, it will be another failed experiment in US Soccer to develop world class players.
Will PA produce world class player, probably not (but what does ?), but I think it is a step in the right direction.
Regarding the oversight, I am not sure if I am ready to trust US soccer anyway...
