00 - Season To Date Thoughts
With about 1/2 the season done I thought it would be interesting to poll the boards and get your thoughts on the season.
Specifically, are there any team surprises (both good and bad)? I know it is a broad topic and reaches CL, PPL, and APL but remark on the league / divisions that you are comfortable. I plan on a similar post (or revive this one) at the end of the season.

not a surprise to me but the midland united chivas playing arlington d1 beat two classic d1 teams and tied another in plano labor day tourneySoccerXXX wrote:With about 1/2 the season done I thought it would be interesting to poll the boards and get your thoughts on the season.

Re: 00 - Season To Date Thoughts
So I see there are a lot of readers but not posters so I will give a few.
CL D1 - As many on the board expected Academy looks to have taken a bit out of the Big 4 teams however I would say I did not expect Andro to drop to the extent they currently are.
CL D2 - I did not expect Odyssey to struggle as much as they have this season. I had heard they lost talent but to date I would say a surprise. On the other end TFC sitting in 3rd is also a surprise. They look to have kept talent and built upon it. I would also give credit to Dallas Tigres for being in 2nd place.
CL D3 - From my perspective this is the most interesting. Having 8 teams come up to CL and 2 down from D2. This said I don't think Irving or Samba are surprises. They are good teams and are making the most of it. Kernow is a bit of a surprise. Up until the qualification tournament they were not considered strong. From the QT on they have been on a tear. There seems to have been a moment of understanding and now the team is getting it.
PPL - I cannot speak a whole lot to this group as the league never filled out the D1 division. Not sure but suspect D1 is about the way it should be. D2 about the same.
APL - Like APL I cannot speak a whole lot to this group. Overall the grouping of points makes me think the expected strong teams are well situated to perform.

Re: 00 - Season To Date Thoughts
Can only comment on D1 and most likely I am restating the obvious.
1 really good team and 7 pretty good teams. And two who are destined for D2.
That said, the really good team is not head and shoulders above the pretty good teams and that is unexpected. Considering the personnel changes in the two destined for D2, it is no surprise that it is all about development.
Still some decent soccer being played no matter who has moved on to pre-academy/academy.

These are the current league standings for Classic D3 (10-15-13). I am overall suprised at the current standings. Texans have dropped to the bottom. I would not have guessed Liverpool would be in 9th place. Azul is starting to adjust. Dallas Stars are having a little trouble finishing. Manchester is putting some wins togeather. Irving is a good team, I'm thinking they will finish putting it together and be a very tough team by spring. Samba seams to be a little up and down they look to be in it to the end. E. Tx. United struggles to get the ball in front of the net but does a good job of creating shots on goal. FCD stingy defense is their claim to fame. Overall suprise has got to be Storm FC. This team has done a complete turn around. Most goals for and second least goals against. Overall 5 teams with 4 or more wins. This will be an exciting last two games for fall and even more so in the spring. So far some very good soccer. Keep up the hard work.

Re: 00 - Season To Date Thoughts
storm is probably the only team that i have seen put more than 3 accurate passes together with a purpose during a game. the rest of the teams just boot the ball up or dump and chase and never start the attack from the back. coaches and parents screaming at their bbs to kick the ball out instead of trying to play their way out from the back. very few kids looked comfortable with the the ball at their feet under pressure.Typhoon wrote:...............................................................................................GP W D L GF GA PTS

It's U14 D3, what exactly do you expect? Most of the teams don't have the personnel or skills required to work it up from the back without losing it.Se_la_perdio! wrote:storm is probably the only team that i have seen put more than 3 accurate passes together with a purpose during a game. the rest of the teams just boot the ball up or dump and chase and never start the attack from the back. coaches and parents screaming at their bbs to kick the ball out instead of trying to play their way out from the back. very few kids looked comfortable with the the ball at their feet under pressure.Typhoon wrote:...............................................................................................GP W D L GF GA PTS

Re: 00 - Season To Date Thoughts
agree with "it's D3!!!!!" when you don't have 11 bb that can dribble on the same team you have to clear the ball. we recently at u14 combined two teams with this problem. NOW!!!! with the same coaching we can play from the back. great coaching? no! good coaching with better athletes:bounce:off_the_woodwork wrote:It's U14 D3, what exactly do you expect?
