Which teams will be in the top flight (bracket)?????

This is crazy.  Last year there were 44 teams, 3 flights.  Gold flight had 14 team (3 brackets, 4/4/6 teams respectively).  Silver A had 14 teams (3 brackets, 4/4/6 teams respectively) and Silver B had 16 teams (4 brackets, 4 teams each).

This year there are 68 teams.  4 flights?  16/16/16/20?  4/4/4/5 brackets of 4 each?

Another data point: 44 X $600 = $26,400 vs 68 x $600 = $40,800.

Someone did some great marketing... hopefully the swag is better than the lanyards or "player cards", but I doubt it.

Will be interesting to see how they structure it.  I think 4 flights makes more sense, but that means more games which means more costs (refs, trophies, etc).  If they want to keep it to 3 flights, they could do 24/24/20.  Either way, you're going to have large flights, but with quarterfinals, everyone has a fair chance at advancing to knockout rounds.

Assuming they go with 4 flights, I would probably put the 20 team group as the 2nd or maybe 3rd flight.  Assuming 16 for the top flight, there are 13 Classic D1/D2 teams, but maybe only 9-10 of those make it into the top flight and leave 6-7 spots open for out-of-state teams with high GotSoccer rankings.  I would probably put the following in the top flight (GotSoccer Ranks are National ranking):

Sounds right on the flights/brackets. Or they could do 5 brackets: 12 (Classic 1/2) /16 (Classic 2/3) /16 (Classic 3/PPL 1) /12 (PPL 1/2) /12 (PPL 3/4), with comparable out of town teams for each. The overlaps would be for teams that want to push themselves or not.

Your $ numbers do not include any kickbacks/incentives from the hotels to house the 28 out of area teams. That is not a cynical or negative statement - I think it is a great move, and it is a great opportunity for NTX soccer.

I wish that the Arlington tourney would consolidate with Plano, and that they make this tourney two weekends - first round in Plano and the second round in Arlington. That is logistically and politically unrealistic, though. Plus, it would likely reduce the number of out of area teams. So, my wish results in a horrible idea.

DTS plans on being there this year as well. I'm not sure why we weren't on the list.  

Didn't DTS jack up their registration last year as well? lol, guess its a strategy that works for them.

Great work debit! Keep an eye on Lonestars 02 B Red. Made up primarily of their pre-academy boys. They be pretty good.

I dont think that is the correct Lonstar team?   Appears the one entered in this tournament is the San Antonio team.  

Lonestar Red 02 SA boys.... (SA)= San Antonio?

Lonestar Red 02 boys (Austin) is the one with the PA kids....and they are entered in the Austin Labor Day Tournament in the U14 age group.

I'm surprised we don't have any predictions yet?

Just watched the news and they said 30% chance of rain on Friday and 40% on Saturday.  Such mixed emotions, we need the rain, but want to get the games in.

I'm sure with the schedule and brackets out - they will come shortly.

Rain is ok - its that pesky lightening that's the kicker. (pun) Fingers crossed the fields stay open if we get some rain.
