I think it's a toss-up between Pino and Adames in Gold. But what of the other 3 flights?

Don't have a dog in this fight.....first time in many years we are NOT playing in this tourney (looking forward to the coolness of my a/c) - but my money (if I had any) would be on FCD Premier Goncalves. Have to take them over Pino.

I would go with Thornber or Pino to win Gold division. Can't see Goncalves getting there.

How many 01 Andro PA kids are now dual rostering on Nipper's team?
Any "Dark Horse" teams in this tourney that will surprise us?

The Gonçalves team lost their keeper over the summer. They are still a good team but that will hurt them.

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
I'm hoping that my BB's team, Barcelona (MSA) is a dark horse that will upset the Silver A (Red), or is it (Purple), no wait (Yellow). ohh, its' Silver A (Green).
With so many out of area teams it is really hard to make a prediction. Â If I had to though, strictly based on gut feeling, I think Liverpool Rush will have a good tournament. Â I think the TUSC Blitz will be a challenger too. Â Out of the last three tournaments they have played, they were the champion in two of them and a finalist in the other. Â Good luck to all of the North Texas teams.

Gold: DTXN South, again, until the crown is removed
Silver A Blue: NEOFC 02 (Computer) Blue: Tough to go with out of towners in a strong division, but going against the odds because a portion of their name matches the division name.
Silver A Green: LP (Arnold) Toshack 03: A top 03 team playing in the third 02 division. Double down here.
Silver B: Lobos Rush: That's right - I am going with a TN team whose coach's name is Butch to win (the division) in a soccer tourney. Looks like they are from Memphis, so my certain prediction is that they will complain about the local BBQ.

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
Anybody else think it's a lot to have 3 pool games, quarter finals, semi-finals and finals all in one weekend? That's a lot of soccer for the boys. By the finals they will really be feeling it. Granted it's a four day weekend. Still a lot of soccer! Not so bad if you play your pool games and go home though.

Agree that a tournament with that many games is more about the coaches ability to navigate the schedule and preserve his players than game day play by the kids...

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
Well, I don't think we will be the dark horse of this tournament, more like the drunk donkey. Our boys played pretty sloppy this morning in our first game, gave up an own goal and it seemed like every pass they made was right to the other team. Â A real off game. Â Both TUSC Blitz and Liverpool Rush are doing well in the gold bracket like predicted.

What happened to DTS? I didn't get a chance to watch. Is that a completely different team?
Did some of those kids go to Andromeda with Thornber?

This year's DTS team is pretty much a new team. Only 4 returned from last year. It's a good squad just going to be rough for a little while they learn each other. Coach will have them ready to go on all cylinders. No worries. It's been a good tournament. Good luck to all the teams that are advancing.

Holy Moley! The '02 Gold semis are all D1 Classic League teams!
Soccer/Pizza4me, if LP Rush can survive the Andromeda onslaught, they will win this tournament.
#22 DTS made an early surprise exit.
#25 LP Owen was a no-show.
#1 Solar's making the state of Virginia very nervous.

I heard from a parent that LP Owen is kicking butt in Austin. They're playing in the finals. Good Job to the NTX teams D1 teams.

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
Congrats to the boys in the Semi's. looking forward to a great Classic season. Also who jinxed Solar with the "if they can stay healthy comment". They ended up with a roster of only 12 to play Central Premier this afternoon. Solar had them 1-0 through the half time, but with injuries and a kid out with a red card, they couldn't keep up with the 18man roster on Central Premier. Great job by Central Premier to remain calm, work their subs and to wear down Solar. This will be the first time in 4 years that neither Solar Chelsea nor DTS will be the champion of this tournament. Can't wait to see how this shakes out. Good luck to the final four.

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
The situation was not quite as extreme as you stated. Central Premier roster is 17 and we too had a player out on a red card (goalie) plus an injured player who only played a few minutes at the end.
Solar had a good showing and I think they should do well in D2 with Stavrou coaching.

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
I do agree with the comment about 6 games in three days. I think this takes away from the quality as players get tired.
That being said, I have to say this is one of the most competitive competitions I have seen with a lot of great teams from NTX, STX, OK and others. Very good quality teams and well done to the organizers for that.
On the downside, I don't understand why Gold bracket teams have to play important games on sub-standard fields. Moss Park was a mess and playing some of today's quarter finals on turf given the heat was very disappointing. I hear UTD is in good shape for the semis tomorrow and Russell Creek looks great for finals. Let's give the boys something to play on they deserve for their great play so far.
Lastly, well done to the Classic league D1 teams with their great performances. Looks like a great match up this season with teams who can beat each other. Should be a great season.

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
I do feel a little embarrassed for having out of state/out of town teams play on our rec fields. But I don't think it's hurt the quality of play. I do think that the lines at the three complexes we have played at are not defined well enough but the boys don't seem to be struggling much with the fields themselves. At least they are mowed. After all, we play CL games on the pasture at Richland College. You can imagine with the hundreds of games that are being played and all the refs that are needed that it is a hurculean task to organize all of this. I have a real appreciation for all their hard work to put this together. Now if I can just get my son healthy again before next weekend's first round of CL games...that'll be the trick.

Re: Plano Labor Day Predictions?
The fields we played on have not been mowed and were not well lined. The grass was tall enough we had to talk about it before every game...it still impacted play...combination of tired boys and tall grass was not great. I understand that letting grass grow taller in the Texas summer is necessary...but it was tough to play as a surface. Texas in August can make for a tough venue...and they seemed a bit stretched for officials...
